Hey,

This is my first post here actually. Looks like a wealth of information here.

I have a Sable III and carry it regularly when I am out in the bush hiking and hunting.

On the TAD website I noticed that they have a whistle replacement cap for the one-piece knives and you can put the small SAS survival compass inside.

I was thinking of ordering this combo. Does anyone here have on of these on their knives?

Right now I just keep a bunch of matches in the handle, but the whistle and compass would be cool, and potentially useful for making the knife into even more of a survival tool.

Welcome to Bladeforums! :)

I've seen that cap but I like my Sable III as is. The compass might be a good idea, but a real compass would probably be more useful, or a GPS. Still, it never hurts to have a backup, especially one so compact.

What else do you keep in your hollow handle? the campass idea is ok but what if you drop, fall,or use your knife as hammer that type of jarring might damage the compass. There are times when I use my knife to spilt wood with and will hammer through it. Just a thought.
Take care,
Bryan

Very good point. One that I did not think of. I haven't used the knife for many really tough tasks as of yet and it is very true that it could become jarred in the process. I will have to rethink that purchase and really, it isn't saving that much room in the pack.
