Tagua Nuts?

Anyone ever used a tagua nut for the spacer on a stick tang knife?
I'm working on a bowie and have a couple taguas that I dug out of my folder box and sanded the bark off and I think the color would really set off nice with the Australian red mallee burl I'm using for the handle.
Just wondering if the tagua is stable enough for use as the spacer?

I've never made a knife handle spacer with one, but I did use tagua to make a spacer to replace a broken ivory spacer on my mom's alto recorder. It's held up for about 8 years now without cracking or breaking.

I bought some at least 10 years ago and still haven't used them. I think I can still find them...
