I realize that there are people who think a knife from Taiwan, is an el cheapo. Sal is a class guy, and strives hard, but that set aside.

Am I the only guy who thinks that some, or a lot of the Taiwan Spydercos are such high quality, that they are approaching midtech levels?

I got a Gayle Bradley, and a Sage 3 yesterday. The f/f, smoothness, workmanship, and all on these knives, is well above the price. Don't go raising prices Sal! LOL I am just saying you offer a lot of knife for the money on these. I can see that my conversion, was the smartest thing I've done in a while.

get a Techno and just be amazed. I genuinely believe that it's on par with a Small Sebenza in every aspect. I was blown away at the fit and finish of the knife. The action is as smooth as any CRK. The blade steel is just a nice icing on the cake.

The Taiwan models are top notch and it screams quality. I would not hesitate to get any Spyderco from Taiwan.

I have a Domino and a Gayle Bradley. Mint quality, flawless fit and finish, perfect blade centering, very smooth, zero blade play.
Much as I love my Golden Spydies, those two truly standout.

Hi all, first post here. I'm just wondering what your preferences are for the country of manufacture. I own a seki city civilian and have a Millie on the way. I won't respond with some smartass politically motivated comment, I'm just curious on the views some of you have on the subject.

Well, I love my Endura, made in Golden. It is superior to my Tenacious, but I love that too, especially the G10 scales, which make it feel a better, more solid knife. For my money the Taiwan Spydies are great value, but for a really outstanding quality knife, go for the Gold(en)!!

Yes Taiwan Spydies are of extreme quality. People are often surprised to find out that the finest quality surgical scalpels came from Taiwan. Now most scapels are electronic and no blade is involved.

The Taiwan facility boasts the highest technical capabilities for difficult builds such as the Southard. I love my Goldens too, but Taicheng gets the nod.

I think the average person will see "anything from asia" as crap as far as knives. I think that's why it says "taichung" and not just "taiwan" imo.

I personally think my Taichung Techno is on par, if not better, than anything else I've owned to this point. That includes more CRKs than I can remember, a number of Striders, three Lionsteels, two Hinderers, a few full customs and countless productions.

Golden huh? Every Endura I ever saw, came from Seki City Japan. Did you get some special one?

The endura is made in Japan, and the tenacious is made in China (not the same as Taiwan).

I've owned many of the Taiwan made spydercos available and have been impressed with all of them. Top of the line materials and fantastic fit/finish for a reasonable price. Anyone who assumes poor quality based on the country of origin is doing themselves a disservice.

I'm never going to be worried about Spyderco's F/F no matter where it comes from. IMO, the Taiwan made models are a step above in finish than just about anything in their price range.

Akula, I agree with this. But my point, is not only are they better than their price range, I kind of feel that they are above a lot of knives well above their prices.
