Was looking at these in S35V, and was wondering, at +/- $250, are they worth it? And by worth it, are they going to hold up to something liek 1K+ deployments a month w/o any significant wear and tear?

I recall reading some folks had to sand down the lock bit since it came sharp from factory, but 1k deployment in a month averages around 33 flips per day, will not make the knife fall apart but deployment will get smoother as it gets worked in.

Very fidgety but don't let that be the only factor when purchasing a demko knife

I have several of them and my only complaint is it seems like a beefy thick blade for a 3"ish folder. Other than that I really like them. I have an S35VN with the black G10. Not sure what the edge angle comes at but I really need to lay it back some. Did the eye ball edge change to a D2 sharkfoot model and it slices so much better now. As for wear and tear, if you use it as a knife to cut stuff then it should last as long as you don't sharpen the blade away. If you use it as a pry bar, throwing knife, chopping, baton, or pretty much anything else you shouldn't do with a folder then no folder is going to last as long as it should. The Shark Lock is goofy strong but it's still just steel liners and tiny screws holding everything together.

Spyderco has made knifes in Taiwan for a long time and I think that is some of the best quality in their line. I own a couple of Demkos from Taiwan and they are great. My personal opinion is if the materials used are good then being made in Taiwan is not an issue. I love the shark lock and think it is an ingenious design. if you like to fidget with knives you will love them.
