How can I see from a picture that a used Ontario RAT knife is made from D2 or 1095? The TAK-1 I want to buy is used so its hard to see the difference between the black or green micrata olso to logo might be gone!

This is what the official site says: ‘’ D2 blades have RAT logo etched on blade, stainless steel screws in handles, and black Micarta scales (1095 models have green Micarta).’’

Are there any other ways of seeing the difference in D2 and 1095 by a digital picture!

I would think the black micarta handles would be the clue to it being D2 steel. I have the TAK in 1095 steel, green handles.

I think the blase coating on the D2 is kind of a crinkle coat, a rough texture while the 1095 has a smooth phosphate finish.
