Take 5?

Here's what I would pick...

What would you take if you could grab 5 to cover all of your bases?

That's a great set...

Just about perfect!! Only thing I would try and slide in there would be an ST Ripper or a SARSquatch (those FSHs don't come around too often).

I've changed my mind 5 times since I started this post:confused:

Way to tough a question, but...

FBM LE
HOGFSH LE
HR Comp
ABA LE
LrMrS-any

I gotta add a sixth- .150 AD Snake CS

Here are my Busse users. This is my perfect 5, I have my EDC AD and Culti, my FBM Chopper with a little piggy GW and a light weight ZTBM. The Hog Edition ASH-1 will be my 6th user--when I get my Buy Brown sheath for it....

Nice looking knives so far but way to much over lap for me as a field set.
For instance I can not see why you would need a FBMLE and two steel hearts? What the point of that? And 5 knives is to much for a field set anyway, unless you need some real special purpose blades. If I was off to live off the land so to speak I would take based on terrain, a chopper large enough to deal with the types of vegetation I might run into and no bigger.

A smaller camp/field craft/general purpose knife. Thats it. Optionally I might consider a special purpose built fillet knife or skinner. This set while not Busse could be a fine field knife set:

One things for certain going to the field for any length of time weight and volume of equipment is important. I would rather carry extra water or Water purification gear, ammo, Shelter materials, bedding, clothing, first-aid items or a parade of other things than five over built knives.

Now if I am missing the point of this thread and the idea is to show your five favorite Busse knives that represent a wide spectrum of Busse products I would list the following.

AK or Ruck - Self defense
FBMLE - Chopping
Hell Razor or Satin Jack - Fighter
XXXL Nick - Food prep/camp
BAD - Bushcraft

Very Little over lap and covers a very wide array of usage.

Do not misconstrue this Post as Anti-busse or a flame against the OP. Its not.

Can we try to make it easier and only chose 2 :D This is really straining my brain trying to choose. Besides I sure as heck wouldn't be lugging all of those around at one time.

For me some sort of FBM and a AD would be just about ideal.

Dude,there is a Rat in your pic.
What is it,an M6?
I have an M6 on the way.

Only 2, then I'd take my AD and FBM. They're the best IMO. I wouldn't take all 5 of mine on a camping trip. Usually on a trip I take 1 big, 1 small, 1 folder and 1 multitool.

+1

I would never pick these particular five all at once to go on a hike... too much overlap and too heavy! But if I wanted to have a cabinet of knives that I could choose from then these five are the five I pick.

So...
  • I go on a walk I slip my AD into my pocket
  • I go on a longer day hike and want a one knife solution then I take my RMD, ASH1 or FSH depending on what I'm planning
  • I'm car camping and want to cause major destruction, I pull out my FSHLE

Practically, if I were going on a hike, and wanted to optimize performance and weight I would would probably go with (1) Skeletool CX (multitool), (2) AD or RMD (smaller fixed/bushcraft) & (3) Dogfather LE (machete/chopper that is much lighter than the FBM LE). Lots of versatility in a hike-friendly package, my personal Nessmuk Trio.

Out of the ones I own:

FBMLE
Jackhammer
HOGASH-1
Cultellus
OJ Warden

I think that would pretty much cover it for me.
