Some of you may remember that I posted some of my knife designs in an old thread...this is part II, so to speak.

A rather traditional fighter pattern. Picture it as an integral with a stone-washed blade, large polished nickel silver pins and amboina scales.

This is a rather unusual design: a large Wharncliffe sub-hilt fighter. I think it would look cool with a satin-finished blade and carbon fiber scales.

Aw man...too bad. I used Yahoo's picture service before, but Waffen-online (a German forum where I'm a moderator) would have been much more comfortable to use.

Hey, Imageshack seems pretty cool because you don't have to register.

I like that Wharncliffe, too. Looks like a pretty heavy blade. How thick were you going to make it?

Hey Ed,

I'm constantly creating new designs and modify them and if I like the result enough, I ask a maker to build it for me. I'm not sure yet if that Wharncliffe will be made, but in case I decide to send it to a maker, it will actually be fairly thin considering that it's such a large knife - around 1/8th, to prevent it from becoming too forward heavy.

Let me know if you want that wharn made. Its similar to knives i made in the past, though they had much more sculpted handles:

Great idea, turned out nicely IMO:

Woohoo! Gorgeous! Thank you for considering! I believe that is a perfect all-around design, looks good for both fighting and utility.

But if you don't mind, just a few more, if you'd like: (1) how 'bout making the diameter of the finger scallop/cut-out of the middle finger smaller than the index and (2) slope the butt to a flatter end? I offer these following reasons for suggesting these: I believe the smaller hole accomodating the middle finger doesn't lock the hand's grip unecessarily for greater "slack" for the grip. As for the flatter end, this affords maximum thumb "capping" should you want full-power reverse grip thrusts or to pound the butt if the need arises.

But just in case you dont consider these, its OK. Its still wonderful as it is. Danke, mein freund!

Thanks, untamed.

Do you suggest making the middle finger scallop more shallow or do you really think it should remain circular, but with a smaller diameter?
I'll try the former and I agree with your reasoning there. But reducing the cutout's diameter wouldn't make sense since middle fingers are usually about as thick as index fingers.

As for the pommel, I think it would work well enough in thumb-capped reverse grip (edge out) as is.

. . .the middle finger scallop more shallow . . .

Yup, you nailed it. This is more in line to what I was thinking. Good luck!

BTW, do you think we should call it the STORMTAMER!?!? hehehe :D

Alright, here you go. No butt end mods, but I really like the more versatile shallow middle finger cutout. I also modified the thumb ramp area a bit, so the handle and blade look more like they were originally designed to go together.
