Was just curious as to the point of take down knives. I'm still learning all I can about knives and I never did come to a conclusion as to the function of a take down knife. I'm guessing it's just for cool factor? I just wanted to know if there was some deeper purpose, or maybe if it had to do with some tradition. Here's a good example of one I just saw over at the custom knives forum:

Also, since I'm asking questions. Integral knives...what are they? Are they just knives made of one solid piece? How are they different from full tang knives? I've seen some integral knives with scale slabs.

I think that it means that it can be disassembled and reassembled for cleaning or other purposes. I don't think that it has anything to do with "taking down" a living being.

Intregal knives are the blade, gaurd, tang, and pommel are all ground from one bar of steel. It makes for one very rugged knife.

I think building a knife like in the tread you posted, without adhesives, would be difficult. No epoxy to hide gaps or imperfections.
