Can you point me in the direction of some makers that are famous for their take down knives?

I'm becoming more and more interested in the idea.

But I'm concerned that they the assembly might not be as sturdy as a glued-up construction.

Can anybody say good or bad about it?

thanks!

Hey Dan! look at some of Jim Siska's work... i aquired one of his take down pieces in Damascus...simply stunning...and very secure...i'll have to dig up my camera and post a pic for you

Llyod Hale has many of them and he's pretty decent about answering questions like that. He hangs out at the other place.

Chisel - please post the pic here when you get it - thanks!

Tracy - LOL. I check him out.

Daniel, making takedown knives raises the bar a notch for construction. Tight-fitted handles, indexing pins, pommel nuts, no solder or JB weld on guards, etc. It'll drive you nuts and raise your skill level more than a notch. Go for it!
