Hello
Here is a second collaboration with my friend Jean-Jacques Schitz, again under the spell of South East Asia.
As in our first work together, J.J., who is a gifted knife maker with a passion for tropical Asia, made me blades that are inspired by the shapes of a traditional Balinese ceremonial knife, the Upacara.
Myself I took inspiration from Indonesian patterns to sculpt the handles.
The blade of #168 is made out of carbon Damascus from Achim Wirtz.
Blades of #169 and #173 are a stainless suminagashi with a VG10 edge.
All three are 80 mm long.
A few word on #173 that I made at my return from a trip to Thailand this march. My head full of images and inspiration, I had to express it in some ways, so I made this knife thinking of a small stylized dragon, like the ones that I had the chance to see in Siamese temples.
It was also an opportunity to test my carving skills and to see if I could push a bit my limits. A small challenge I like to give to myself from time to time to check if I made progress.
I hope you like these little beasts.

Thanks for watching
