Take time today to reflect on what happened 1 year ago.

How have you used that year?

Are you more aware? Prepared? Thankful?

Mike

I have increased my communtiy activism by writing letters to editors and public officials, by volunteering with several agencies like the Red Cross, and by assisting in relief efforts for evacuees and giving aid to firefighters from the Biscuit Fire.

I see a much stronger emphasis in my life on family and community, and I have a more intense desire to be involved.

I never thought about it until now, but I believe that these internal changes are the way that I have found to act out my response to 9-11.

i think im more aware of world politics, and im also more aware of how important it is to think things through and not just race wildly into them, ive watched with mild concern at Mr Bush and Mr Blair throwing their might around, only recently when they have shown some thought for the untied nations have my concerns eased a little. I have tried to apply this to my every day life on a much smaller scale, trying to think before I act rather than rush into things and to remind myself that no one acting in anger is acting in reason. another important message I have found by considering the people who organised the attacks, firstly, misunderstandings between people can grow into something far bigger than they ever should do. secondly, people who are totally unreasonable cant be reasoned with and thirdly, the idea of the whole world living as one big happy family is nothing more than a hopeful dream, something that will never come to pass unless there is a total change in the human race.

I HAVE TAKEN A COURSE IN TREATMENT OF CAUSALTIES FROM CHEMICAL AND BIO. WAREFARE. I WILL GO NEXT WEEK TO A COURSE ON MEDICAL CARE OF RADIATION INJURIES. I HAVE DONE MY BEST TO PREPARE OUR LOCAL AND REGIONAL MEDICAL SYSTEM TO DEAL WITH THE SEQUELAE OF A TERRORIST ATTACK.
