Awesome work! I wonder how a "hard-use" version in micarta would look.

Thanks - I appreciate your observation. IMHO, a wire wrapped handle IS "Hard Use." The the twisted stainless wire is wrapped around a stabilized wood core that has been coated with super glue. The ends of the handle where the wire starts/stops, are sealed with JB Weld......the only way to remove the wrap is to grind the ends flush and heat the handle to 300 degrees or higher.

Finally, a wire wrapped handle is supremely grippy in a gloved hand - that's why twisted wire wrapping is put on swords rather than micarta. G-10 would look nice on this fighter - but in terms of life or death performance, I'd opt for twisted wire wrap on a fighter. Also, it's good looking and sexy, like Joe Paranee. :D YMMV

Don't get me wrong, G-10 micarta is great stuff - take a look at my Tuxedo Fighter.:)

Thanks again fellas - appreciate the feedback :)

thats a great model ! did you have to heat the stainless red to bend it?

Thanks John - the ring guard is carbon steel and yes, I heated it to cherry red to forge and bend it.
