Well it is official. Myself and Daniel at EE are the North American distributors for Takefu steel. right now we have V-toku solid material, sg2 solid, some sg2 suminagashi in 15 and 30 layer. there are several thicknesses. I believe they are 2.8, 3, 3.5, and four mm. The suminagashi will need to be forged to have any pattern to it, other wise ther will be straight lines. Forging also gives a bigger knife from the same material. We will have pretty much all the material available from Takefu eventually but for right now it is just what's above.
sizes and prices can be had from EE, email is the best way as Daniel is a little short handed at the moment. Ill post prices in the for sale forum when I get them.

Bill, I may never get around to using those steels, but just wanted say a big thank you for your effort in obtaining them. Im sure that was a big chore. Now, if only the Shiro and Ao series would be let loose.....!

I've used the Takefu V-toku 2 san mai, and am very pleased with it. My parents have a chef's knife in that steel, and the performance is great. Cannot recommend that san mai steel enough to makers.

V-Toku 2 is very similar to Hitachi Blue 2, but with Swedish iron ore instead of the Japanese iron ore. That is my understanding anyway.

Right now I've only seen clad Takefu steel sold by US vendors like Bladegallery, USA Knifemaker, and Maker Material Supply. I couldn't find plain Vtoku2 or SG2, i.e. non-san mai.
