My newly purchased Izula now rides on my duty belt protecting the streets as of today. :D Had to share.
I also have a HEST in my cargo pocket for the bigger jobs. Coincidentally it came in handy a few days ago. I had to check behind a building and the 3 ft wide walking space was filled with all sorts of plants. I used the HEST to cut down some plants so I could make it through.

Anyway the wrap job isn't the best but I'm more about function > form. In case you're wondering, the paracord is colored blue.
The Izula rides in between 4 and 5 o'clock and does not interfere with my grip on the gun. Along with that, it rides right up against my body. No worries there.

(Sorry about the B&W photo. I was messing with my camera settings.)

I've seen a few carry fixed blades but it's usually tied to their boots or stuffed in their pockets. I work nights so it won't look too menacing on my belt. No one pays attention anyway. The wrap sort of matches my uniform shirt so it blends in a bit more. Still noticeable but oh well.
The M&P is catching on..

PLUS, he's from Texas. I hear most are cool with open carry of tools. By the way, not from Texas but thank you for your service.

Really a sweet set up, HT1911.

Kabar-TDI's seem to populate a lot of the duty belts here...but an Izula is a fine choice! :)

nice, but have you considered carrying it on the left side?

reason being, that even tho you've got what looks like a nice Safariland holster that if someone tries to relieve you of it, your right hand will be dealing with that threat... you could use your left hand to persuade them that ain't such a bright idea.

Another option is to flip it around edge forward or move it in front of your sidearm. That positions the edge better to protect yourself in case of a gun grab. The edge is right there for a reverse grip to shear their hand off of your gun.

I have a Microtech Combat Troodon clipped inside my left pocket. I can pull it out and fire it in a blink of an eye. ;) I usually keep my distance from strangers. I'd rather keep officer safety tactics for private discussion. Hope you guys understand...

Here's my OD Izula with black 550 cord wrap,

just an observation on this rig, or any rig in general.

some trainers/departments/organizations/whatever suggest that only weapons, and ammo go on the front half, and that flashlights, radios, phones, keys, cuffs, etc go on the back half.

this helps avoid problems like trying to reload your pistol with your cell phone. and just makes grabbing the right thing easier under stress.

sorry to hear that..

I chuckled a bit at that one. They are probably good handguns but I just cant get into SW autos. THe MPs I've dry fired have had ghastly trigger pulls. Of course I'm used to DA/SA hammer fire pistold like my Sig and HK.

So does your department issue MPs or is that a personal thing (if that's even allowed)? My city's PD issues HKs.

That is a really good looking setup you got there though bro. Keep doing what you do. We appreciate it.

My agency tested the M&P and it beat out a ton of other pistols. The guys at Smith bent over backwards to accommodate our guys. The admin wennies decided to go with the Sig Sauer P-250. Just for the record the 250 sucks and we are fighting it ever hitting the field. If you ever get a chance to shoot our buy an M&P DO IT.

Oh sorry the whole reason behind my post was to say nice set up ht1911. Back when I was a beat cop I had a 32 inch waist. Man I could only get the bare essentials on my gun belt. I hated the bigger guys that could carry a damn batman utility belt on duty. *L*

Not to sidetrack the thread but OMG. 2 guys in my last CCW class had Sig 250s. Both had light strikes and extraction issues. One kept it and Sig made it right, the other gave up.

We are having extraction issues, barrel wear issues, and of all things the night sights on a few of them don't work. Sig will gladly fix them for $35.00 each on brand new guns though. Having said that the 229 is one if the finest combat pistols made, heck I own one myself and my issue pistol is a 229. I love the 229 but the 250 was an experiment that bombed but Sig won't except it.

Yeah, it isn't like it has not been discussed all over the Internet for years. :D
