Hey Guys,
Just thought I'd give ya'll notice adhead of time. I'm outa here for a while. I need a break. Not holding grudes against anyone, just need to take a break from the forum, not real crazy with the way things are being taken care of around here, so I won't be posting for a while, I may browse now and then, but that will be the extent of it. Best to all.

I am glad I got to learn a few things before the exodus began... There's always the search function and the old posts...

There is no "exodus" that I am aware of. Search for our thread on the Gulf Coast Relief effort, read the names of the posters, and see how many have come and gone since then. I suppose that was a highpoint of posting membership. Then go back to the earliest threads in the archive and see how many posters there were. Very few. Summer is always a slower time on all forums because most people are out doing more. As I said, I still hold hope that the...now three...members who have excused themselves will see fit to return...in their own times.

Just a question, what is it this time that has everyone up in arms? I know the deal with LT and all, and I understand that, but this time i'm a little confused. How are things not "being taken care of"? If we can't get some specifics, it's kind of hard to make changes for the better, especially for folks just joining up. Please at least list specifics for proper etiquet on this forum, if that's where the problem is.

I just have other things to do, no time for the forum, and I need a break, lets just leave it at that, OK?

and furthermore, I never came out and said that I was leaving did I? Is there something wrong with taking five? At least I don't think so. This will give me more off time to work on some of my projects anyway.

It's O.K., Kaleb. No one is razzing you. They are just trying to understand what is going on is all. You alluded to there being a specific problem here, and the guys were just hoping to discuss it for some insight.

I, for one, appreciate your giving us some heads up about your impending "vacation" from the forum. We do care about our friends here, and worry when someone just up and disappears. Don Luis has been MIA for a while now, and I am concerned about him, though it is probably just worry over nothing.

Enjoy your time off and please do continue to drop in and browse. Truth be known, more people do that than post. And that is OK too.

As Alice in Wonderland once said, this is getting curiouser and curiouser.

When someone announces for all to see that they're going on a hiatus or otherwise leaving a message board, they're trying to make a point. Otherwise, they just quietly fade away.

MM, I guess this is your point:

...not real crazy with the way things are being taken care of around here, so I won't be posting for a while, I may browse now and then, but that will be the extent of it.

From a post you made in another topic, I know you just contacted LT. Is there a little politicking going on behind the scenes to cause this sudden announcement on your part? Who should leave this forum to make the self-exiled members happy? Who exactly is that up to?

This has gone beyond being ridiculous and is not getting any better. I for one am sick and tired of the backstabbing, bitching and complaining about the lingering effects of what transpired between Codger and LT. This forum isn't about these two members, it's about Schrade knives. You guys are grown men and a bunch of you are acting like schoolgirls.

If any of you have a problem with the people here or, "the way things are being taken care of around here," speak your mind like an adult or just get the hell out of here and don't bother saying goodbye.

Amen brother!!! I agree , accept the politicking part, my guess is that Lt loves these old knives too much to steer anyone away from here.

Guess what redshanks, it's none of you buisness what is "going on behind the scenes". This has nothing to do wit LT. This is not about the lingering effects, this has nothing to do with that. If you don't like my posts then don't read them! I am not trying to make a point here. I just wanted to let my fellow forum members that I was taking a break from the fourm, so they do not wonder about me like Codger is wondering abour Don. You need to get your facts straight before you open your mouth. I have NEVER had a problem with anyone on this forum, and I didn't intend to ever have problem with anyone here, but apprently you have some kind of malfunction. Lt is a friend, as are many of the poeple on this forum, he has nothing to do with this thread, so before you go drawing your rediculous conclusions, you best know what you are talking about. If this is the way people feel about my posts, then screw it, you'll never have to read them again, because I won't come back and bother posting anything else.

Bull. I've been on Web forums since '97, and it's pretty common for people to say they're taking a break.

See ya around, MM. Hope your work goes well.

G'Day from Oz, I would like to announce I'm NOT leaving, having found the best site on Line for our beloved Schrade knives and history.
I firmly believe the forum is larger than the individual and always will be..I would hate to see Codger leave though.....I really appreciate his willingness to share information and research on our behalf....many thanks from a newcomer and with your ilk mate I dont feel like I'm going to be put down if I ask a question that the more experienced already know the answer to, Codger intelligently directs to the appropriate posting.
This forum will continue to grow if you cater to ALL and not just the elite few Schrade Intelligencia....otherwise it becomes an old boys club "Camp Grenada".
Redshanks ...you have just been granted honoury Aussie status by me mate.
Can we all just have fun and learn everything there is to know about Schrade? Hoo Roo...until my next dumb question. Aussie Larry

That's all I get, Larry? Accolades, thanks, a laurel and hardy handshake, but no roo scrotum? :D

Thanks bud, but as you said, the forum, and the information here hangs not on any one man. For every question I can find the answer to, there are ten I cannot. More folks could step up to the plate with info, for sure, just like Knifeaholic did today for Waynorth (who also has a lot he can teach us). I am far from an expert on knives, haven't and won't claim to be. What I do have expertise in is finding answers, often by stepping aside and letting a more knowledgable collector give the correct answer. Sometimes by just doing grunt work looking things up in files, books, and notes I've made.

I have a feeling there are things Schrade we can all learn from the Australians as well. They are just such a shy, unassuming lot ate up with humility and tact, that they don't want to take the limelight.

Crikey mate...aint that a fact.....dont get carried away with my compliments ..they can be as rare as rocking horse crapp mate.Fair Dinkum.....If I could post photos I would show you at least one Schrade proto I bought that you guys discussed at great length and dismissed as a lunch time knock-up..nearly a 165OT but not quite.....Hoo Roo
