Even with all this cold spring is coming and I am in need of a lover , I want a mistress could anyone tell me what the differences are between the forsaken mistress & the forsaken battle mistress? Is one more desirable (from a collectors stand point) then the other. Also the finishes coating vs competition vs satin

as always much thanks in advance ...Jay

Ill first say I’m not up on my battle mistress history. But I’m pretty sure a forsaken Battle mistress is a Forsaken battle mistress. There was the nuclear option version with fuller and LB treatment. I don’t believe any forsaken BMs came in satin, only Comp or coated. Comp is naked infi , coated is well coated. Personal choice there, I liked coated for users cause when I’m ready. I can send out and have stripped :) Satin will be on older models such as FFBM , FBM, ASHBM, FBMLE, SHBM etc etc etc. those also came in coated, various thickness, grinds, and variants :)

Hope this helps a little

I wondered about the coating , when it wears & say you wanted to sell it or make it look new again you can just send it back to Jerry and they will recoat it?

yes*

*in a currently available coating. If you buy, say, tanker gray, and it's no longer made, they can't do that color any more. You will end up paying, for FBM sized knife, probably $40 in shipping to get it recoated, which is the same as the comp finish upgrade originally.

Comp is probably the best finish if you want to use it. satin depreciates dramatically in collector value if the finish isn't perfect

The "Forsaken Mistress" was available to order in various versions about this time last year. You can see the offer here.

It's a "forsaken" mistress because back when they released the Fusion Battle Mistress, it was a design they considered and rejected. Or forsook. You can see the original FBM offer page here. There have been various other incarnations of the Mistress (or Battle Mistress) line both before and after the FBM-- Straight Handled, Ergo, Bushmaster, Nuclear Meltdown Fusion, etc.

A Battle Grade version of the FBM (made of SR101 instead of INFI) was released a year or so ago and is still available to order from the Busse website. See here.

I think most people would agree that INFI is more desirable that SR101, but SR101 is a lot more affordable and more readily available. Putting the metal preference aside, I think which Mistress is more desirable is a matter of personal preference.

My favorite is the Straight Handled Battle Mistress (SHBM), which was the original Mistress and the first model offered in INFI, but those are quite expensive now and can be pretty hard to find. I think from a collector's standpoint, one of the rarer versions of the SHBM would probably be considered the most desirable.

With the Custom Shop being closed to customer requests, I don't think they are doing work like this anymore (unless it is somehow related to a warranty issue). :(
I hope Jerry eases up on this policy soon, by at least giving customers limited/controlled access to the Custom Shop.

The best thing to do to worn coating is strip it! :D ~ in fact, the best thing to do to a brand new coated knife is to strip it! It's going to have some gremlins on it but that's ok, you can polish them up too - But as is said above- comp finish is the way to go. Now there are some that will never be used and live their lives being moved around from safe to safe from now until we are all long gone and that's ok, there's a little bit of everything for everyone ;)
As for the Forsaken Mistress- I think it's the best of all! but I came along at a time where if I wanted one NIB, this was the one I was going to have a chance to snag- and I think it's the baddest ass Mistress of all because it is mine :D ~ I knew we would get along just fine when I was taking photos of it fresh out of the box and I was bleeding a little so we got off to a good start together.

There's only 1 Forsaken that looks like this-
