Alright guys, I have just noticed the stats on my ongoing for sale thread, it has 170 replies and over 21,000 views. Is it getting harder to figure out what is available? Should I lock it and start a new one? I figured asking you guys would be a logical step and since no chatter is allowed in the exchange I have to take it here.

Hey PG

It actually works fine... and you manage it well.

But... I think it would be nice if you started a fresh one every now and then. :)

I find it a little more confusing than a direct sale ad. I can figure out what's for sale but do have to dig a little. No big deal for me but I could see that some folks might find it confusing.

To me, there is no confusion about what is for sale, it is right there in the first post. If one wants to see how much a knife SOLD for, then it is buried in the thread. But that does not affect the current, available sale. I always check your thread when it bumps up to see if you added anything new.

I think you should start a new one.
If I sold enough to keep one up I would start a new one at least once a month or more.

Just my 2 cent's, which is prolly not worth a penny.

edit- like Hogwash said, I also scan without opening alot of the time. If I don't see what is for sale I just usually move on.

I like threads that have the knives and prices in the first few lines so that a mouse over will show me what's available.

That only works with a couple knives, so I would suggest limiting a post to 2-3 knives and then as many posts as you need, for example two posts to sell ~5 knives.

When you are sold out, let the thread die and start another just to keep it less confusing, but I like your updates and adding new knives to an existing for sale thread.

Your ad isn't bad, it just takes a little bit of work to see what you are selling.

Really, it is just fine.

HOWEVER -- you know what teeny little attention spans we all have. It would be best to start a new one.

Why, what with our little pea brains, we'll undoubtedly all react as if if were brand new.

You just keep posting the same ol' knifes...I think you should start one with some knifes like an Internal Affair, a Busse Axe or two...maybe an early Badger Prototype.

Hmmmm...maybe you should just send those knifes/axes straight to me and keep the old thread like it is ;)

Oh, wait! I think some of those knife used to be mine...it's time they came home, don't you think? :)

Send them home? Not just yet Chuck, I'll leave you the Internal Affair in my will, how about that. :D

Princess,

I like the idea of what you did but I think that every 60 days or so you should end it and start a new thread. The reason is that if I'm interested in something you have posted for sale it is hard to see all the comments and questions posted for the knife and I have to go through pages and pages looking to see if my question was answered or if I should ask it myself.

I think the "ayes" have it! Old thread closed, new one has begun. Thanks for the inout guys!
