Taking a vote on the length of the Foxy Folly...

I've been thinking that perhaps the short model Foxy Folly that may become a reality should be in a 16"-17" length instead of the 17"-18" because of the weight constraints of 24 to 28 ounces. And now is the time to finalize it instead of after the fact.;)

Actually I would prefer 17 inches exactly but would go for it an inch shorter if needed to get the weight like we want it so I'm going for the 16"-17" format.

Let's take a vote on it from all the guys that have said they want one and are willing to prepay for them.
So which do you think, a 16"-17" format or leave it as is, a 17"-18" model, in the original thread?

Yvsa, the weight is more important to me than the length. I really want something fast and light. Will leave the centimeters to your judgement.

Since I'm the small guy in the group, you probably know I'd like a smaller, lighter one. However, there are a lot of large folk here too.

If anything, I'd want a light version. Perhaps even lighter than 24 oz. but that's probably not possible. However, I'd like to take the lightest one of the batch if you folks don't mind too much. :)

Yvsa, personally 18" fits me just right. But you're the expert on this blade and know it's history, and you also appreciate the big fat blades just as I do, so I'll leave it to you. I would personally like 17" as a minimum, but whatever you come up with will work for me.

Hell, as I said before, come up with one in each size in 2 different handle materials, and I will absolutely commit to one of each! :)

Your call anyway, and no complaints from me regardless.

Thanks,

Norm

!6-17 inches works for me, weight concious as the next guy. but the size would round out my collection also.

I have faith either way the results of weight would probably even out with the design of the blade for capability.

!6 inches is fine by me.

17.000001 inches.

Any more or less and it will be RUINED!

(I have discovered that 17 is a magic number, as is 21, for some khukuri styles)

Can't help it, what khuk styles?

Bruise and I are a team...he gets the little ones, I get the bigger ones. Not a problem...

I'll take the smallest one they make. 12"-16" would be fine with me. I'm not into chopping down redwoods ;)
If Bruise gets the smallest one, I'll punch him in the knee!

The longer blade length the better for me, so I'd like 17"-18", preferably 18". I'd be happy to take the longest FF, if Bruise gets the shortest one. :D If it is less than 17", it's no longer the khukuri I had envisioned, so my interest would be considerably diminished.

Yvsa, I guess this means you get to put me in with the "definites," rather than the "Strong Maybes."

I just want light, mean and sharp with a handle that fits my smallish hands:
If they can make one with a 19" blade the thickness of a reti but the beauty of a Folly, I'll take it. Otherwise, whatever comes will be what it is. :)

Well, I think the Ganga Ram is perfect in 17". It becomes something different, something really nice.
The Chtilangis and Gelbu Specials are also magical in 21" lengths.

Hi Yvsa,

16" to 17" sounds perfect to me. It must be light (22 to 26 oz). I have a preference for the smaller diameter handles (Bura seems most often to make the right shape for my hands), so maybe I should lean more towards the 16".

I'm sure that if this special order goes everything will turn out great!

Cheers!

Geoffrey

I'm not in for one of these but just wanted to point out that my favorites are 3 16.5 WWII's by Bura in this weight range, and one by Sher is a few ounces heavier but still has most of the magic. I don't think you can have a more useful khuk than with the 17's at that weight. Go for it Bro!

I agree with this feller.
The original FF was beautiful but I traded it with you because it was too heavy for my taste.
