Just curious if anyone has tested the waters with TSA's new regs with just how liberal they seem to be with regard to blade width/length, etc. I'm wondering if anyone had caught grief with anything other than a SAK or fingernail clipper novelty knife. I could see some wives being convinced you "just gotta have" that new blade because you can fly with it :)

I don't fly often, but when I do I don't try to give TSA's a reason to hassle me.

Also I foresee this thread being moved.

I see no reason to move itm.. I am exploring it as I wouldn't mind an excuse to make a friction folder. Dont think it would hurt to see if anyone has had experience with customs that fall into the TSA category of carry-on if I do. As far as it really matters if I want to I can get prior authorization and fly with my gun and any knife I'd like as the majority of my travel is official and I can justify it a large majority of the time. There are times I fly with the family though, like to have a knife, and don't want to carry a SAK. I don't want to get into a 'my badge is better than your badge' match in the check line. Just want to stay as inconspicuous as possible when I'm toting the rest of 'the Griswolds.'

I think David is correct. Too many of the wrong sorts of people complained, and it was postponed pending review.

Bummer. Thanks... Read the regs back first part of the year, never did stay up to date on them I guess. hopefully they eventually decide to do at least a couple of things to ease the misery of that conga line at the airport.
Cheers...

What I heard on NPR was that the flight crews raised such a fuss and the "TSA-legal pocketknife" thing was shelved indefinitely.

This isn't a thread about making knives, materials, suppliers, or techniques. I'm moving it to ATG, but it probably is more of a thread for the general discussion forum.

Sorry Stacy, I was looking at making a friction folder to carry-on and was trying to see if any other makers had any trouble with theirs and TSA, but now that it seems the whole shebang got shelved anyway it isn't an issue.
