Hi,I would like to know if any one treats the tang of thier carbon blades before they fit the scales
I made a knife way back when I was 17 and used Perspex on a hidden tang ,over the years of using and washing you can now see rust showing through the clear Perspex.:(

tin basher if you can take off the handles, hit it with WD 40 and 0000 steel wool, then get yourself a greases or tc 11 anti rust coating, then reapply handles.

Thanks for that reply but I was asking if anyone pretreats the tang before fitting the scales on a new knife so that your $$$ custom knife doesn`t have rust problems down the track.

On my liner lock knifes, I like to put grease between the handle and the liner before I assemble so that water doesn't get trapped and rust.
