Taking care of the tang

Hi,I would like to know if any one treats the tang of thier carbon blades before they fit the scales
I made a knife way back when I was 17 and used Perspex on a hidden tang ,over the years of using and washing you can now see rust showing through the clear Perspex.

How do you remove scales on Benchmade?

tin basher if you can take off the handles, hit it with WD 40 and 0000 steel wool, then get yourself a greases or tc 11 anti rust coating, then reapply handles.

Thanks for that reply but I was asking if anyone pretreats the tang before fitting the scales on a new knife so that your $$$ custom knife doesn`t have rust problems down the track.

On my liner lock knifes, I like to put grease between the handle and the liner before I assemble so that water doesn't get trapped and rust.
