My wife and I are getting ready to take my daughter to UC Davis today. It's special for us because that is where I met my wife of 27 + years.

Kudos to my daughter for getting accepted to Davis, making the swim team, and getting all her stuff into a minivan with room to spare.:D

I hope she's going into the viniculture courses? Serious money to be made there.

Ric, congrats to your daughter on getting in to UC Davis and making the swim team. Hope the chancellors change their minds about the tuition hikes, that's crazy.

Got her moved in without any problems. She was smart and packed her stuff in boxes and plastic totes. They fit nicely on hand trucks.

My wife and I were driving around and found that our favorite Chinese Restraunt is still there, so we had dinner there. :D

That wouldn't happen to be either Ding How or Silver Dragon, would it?

Ding How. I'm amazed that after all these years, the food is still good and the portions are generous.

Yeah, the food there's still just as good as ever. I still make the trek over there now and again just to get some. Well, that and the giant burritos that Guadalajara offers. Davis has that small-town charm.

Amazing how quick girls grow up at college away from home. #1 just graduated and has a job in marketing with the Red Cross. #2 had her last season of eligibility last year and got hired as the assistant softball coach while she finishes her last year of school and #3 should finish up at junior college this year. We noticed a big leap in maturity after their first year. #2 got a big plus from being involved in sports - her coaches really clamped down on grades and I think she benefited from the tight schedule and time management that being in a sports program puts on them. You will really enjoy her visits home.
