Taking Machetes to Belize?

Im sure it is. Id put a note in the bag that says Jungle expedition or something.

Id just score one (or 12) down there though and bring em back....;)

I was just thinking that too. Why not just pay for some down there and bring them back. You might be able to score some good ones with sheaths down there. Good luck, have fun and stay safe.

2nd that. I can't imagine they wouldn't have them at the local hardware store.

Might want to bring along a sharpener in case they're sold with a crappy edge, though.

Yep, You sure can. If you are expecting to bring them back, bring a little bit of tape with you to tape the edges with some cardboard. I've brought back 50 at a time (on multiple occasions) from different countries with no problems.

But why? There are plenty in every hardware/farm store in the country. The last time I was down there they were running something like $3.00 each for a 24-inch blade.

Maybe he has a favorite that is modded or special to him, that could not be bought at some random hardware store.

That's an even better reason to leave it behind ... I've heard plenty of stories of items mysteriously disappearing after being "checked in".

The next question would be why do you think you will need one? Outside the parks, the country is mostly banana and citrus plantations.

I was planning on carrying one of my Condor models...just in case I have to survive in the jungle. :D LOL You never know what can happen, and this forum is about survival and preparedness, isn't it?

Well I'm here in Belize on one of the northern keys(cayes). I brought the Condor Outback with me. Turns out that there isn't any jungle on the cayes. You have to go to the mainland for jungle travel/hiking. I haven't even seen any machetes for sale in San Pedro...

Opened a few cocnuts, that's about it so far. I guess I'll have to take a day trip to the mainland.
