It's past time for me to publicly acknowledge some of the generosity I've experienced here on The Porch over the past several months. As the title of the thread indicates, each example is somewhat related to the word "STOCK", and I certainly want to say "Thanks" to each of the thoughtful Porch members involved. I'll organize my post in chronological order.
Back in March,
Will Power
hosted a GAW that required one to correctly guess the last 3 digits of his car's license plate number:

The prize was a beautiful red jigged bone Böker stockman. As you can imagine, entrants started by simply guessing randomly from the 1000 possible 3-digit combinations, but eventually Will took pity on us, gave some clues, and the GAW became very fun and exciting as entrants developed various strategies.
I was fortunate enough to come up with the winning number, and eventually I received a package from Finland containing not only the fantastic stockman, but also a nice card and a Finnish coin:
Here are a couple of pics of the striking Böker large stockman, showing off its appealing jigging and commemorative shield, its tasteful rounded bolsters, its charming patina, and its satisfying slender profile with low-riding sheepsfoot and tangs that do not tower over the liners.
THANKS, Will, for the resplendent STOCKman!

Not long after that, in early April, Barrett (@btb01 ) "opened a conversation" with me to tell me that in unpacking from his recent move from Arizona to Minnesota, he had discovered a couple of Rough Rider folders that he no longer wanted and thought I might be interested in one or both of them. (This despite the fact that he was one of my most active rivals in Will's guessing GAW!
) I accepted his generous offer to send me a RR gunSTOCK pattern, since it was a pattern I'd never handled and the pattern was getting a lot of buzz on The Porch due to an upcoming GEC gunstock run. Here are some pics of the VERY desirable knife Barrett sent me.
Note the interesting shield indicative of RR's "Long Rifle" series; the smooth brown bone, quite dark and uniform on pile side but almost "appaloosa" splotchy on mark side (don't know if that's intentional or not, but I like it); lined bolsters; main blade is a nice spearpoint, my favorite blade shape, and a pen secondary blade. I still haven't discovered if there's a functional reason for the handle shape. All in all, and excellent jackknife! THANKS, Barrett, for my first gunSTOCK knife - much appreciated!

At the end of April, @black mamba (Jeff) sent me a PM saying he had something he wanted to send me and requesting a mailing address. Well, that mysterious message certainly aroused my curiosity!
Soon a package arrived; note the colorful padded mailer that contained a Case box! Believe it or not, I had the self-control to Google the pattern number and the item number, and found that the box should contain an amber jigged bone mini trapper with clip and cap lifter blades; very cool!
I opened the box to find this stunning knife!

Stainless Case mini trapper with clip main, but no cap lifter; instead, the secondary blade is a spey, but not the usual mini trapper spey the same size as the clip. I wondered, "What is this marvelous knife?" and you might wonder, "Where does "STOCK" come into play for a mini trapper?" Jeff included a note that explained that when he had

make his famous "Beerbelly STOCKman", https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/glennbad-is-a-baaaad-man.1184347/page-17#post-18022905, Glenn took the cap lifter from the mini trapper and used it to replace the spey on a sowbelly STOCKman. But Glenn went above and beyond Jeff's original request and put the sowbelly's spey blade into the mini trapper! I'm incredibly honored that Jeff sent me the historic one-of-a-kind knife that was a by-product of his Beerbelly project!!

THANKS a million, Jeff, for such a unique knife!
In early May, @Leslie Tomville sent me a PM requesting my mailing address! Out of the goodness of his heart, he sent me this Case mini copperlock with walnut Rogers jigged bone covers and super-classy quadruple-lined bolsters, and a special shield installed by

!!
Superlative knife!

I have to admit that the only "STOCK" connection I can dream up for this knife is the pond that shows up in so many of Leslie's knife pics, and I'll assume some of his liveSTOCK go there to drink.
So the STOCK part is weak for this knife, Leslie, but my THANKS is still massive!

As always, the thoughtful generosity so common on The Porch still amazes me!
