Here's a new edc I'm working on, the blade shape is much like a santoku, thus the name. This is my first clayed blade, currently it's just a test etch in ferric, after I hand rub it to 400 grit (it's at 220 now), I'll give it a longer etch in the ferric. I'm using ferric for this hamon, because I want the dark look left by it, which I have to say, is giving it an almost "tactical" look, as much as I hate that word. I plan on handling it with black twill micarta, with red vulcanized liners. What do ya'll think thus far?
The steel almost has a wootz look here. That's just the scratches from sanding, enhanced by the etch, rather cool looking I think.
