Talent it must be nice

A while back I posted a picture of a double set of knives made by imperial which were sold with one double sheath. These Sheaths are pretty hard to come by so I had used the one I had, with an auto toothpick and fixed similiar style hunting knife. This left me one sheath short for the original knives. This was around the time that Don Luis made me a dandy knotted hat band, he has a real talent for doing that type of work. Around that time I found out that Glenn was also gifted and did some nice leather work. Being shameless I proceeded to impose upon him as I did The Don, to see if I could talk him into making a suitable double sheath for me. What I got was really more than I expected the new sheath is nicer and of better quality than the original. By the way it was done only from a picture which is amazing. You guys have got to stop doing nice things you are liable to restore my faith in human nature. By the way Glenn sent it to me in one of his used socks. I am posting a picture of the sheaths ( Glenn did the darker colored one ). As well as his sock what the heck, I will also post one of my socks, guess which is mine. Hint my nickname used to be sasquatch. This may start a new trend in the posting and sending of used undergarments. My garments for the most part are older than most people that are alive today and most are in the condition of my sock I guess I like my socks like my knives antique. Thanks again Glenn. LT

Glenn,
Awesome job.
How long does a sheath like that take you to put together?
Larry
P.S. I dont need a another kid. I have 5. Willing to trade!

Very nice Glenn, you have a talent for leatherwork. :)

Larry, speaking of trades, what kind of incentive clauses do your kids have. Mine are both grown, but I still have salary cap issues. :D

LT.......PLEEEEEZE do not send any used undergarments.....you have made your point with your sock.

Bill

well, I guess none of you would be able to trade under the "player to be named later" caveat. (most of the kids like that are surprises)

Actually, I'm going to send my kid down for a rehab assignment so he can learn how to do his chores the right way.

Thank you all for your kind words. Honestly, side by side, the original looks better. Also, I had no idea that the folder stored pointy side down. I hope that it fits okay that way, LT.

As far as time to do it, that's hard to track. Being a 'dad', I don't get much "me" time, but that's okay. If I had to take a guess on that one, probably 2-3hrs total time. I took me longer to design it than to put it together.

This is strictly Leather 101 for me right now. I have only the basic skills. I do remember my grandfather being quite excellent with leather work, so maybe I got some of that passed down. That's the first sheath I've done in probably a year.

I've seen the rest of you guys' skills, and I am sure you can do or could do a better job than me.

As far as undergarments, you'll be glad to know that socks are the extent of my giveaways. :D

Thanks for the post, LT.

I think Glenn is way too modest. That is nice. Good for you, to be able to do that. Leather work is something I keep meaning to at least try my hand at.

Nice job, looks professional, pretty and functional to me.

Good idea to use a sock for protecting in transport, much nicer than foam peanuts, and can be reused as a sheath, pouch, coffee filter, etc.

Thats a nice setup. Is that originally made by Imperial? I have a similar combo by Imperial, except mine has a Kampking folder instead of a toothpick in the piggyback pouch. The fixed blade handle looks the same as the one on mine, but I can't tell for sure if its the same knife. Anyway its a great idea to combo up two knives in one sheath. I bought mine for me, but lately I'm inclined to set it aside for my son when he's old enough to have his own hunting knife.

What a nice surprise! LT, being a very generous man, sent me this knife as a token of his appreciation for the sheath work that I did. He tells me it is an LB-5 in Stag that was supposed to be some special project, but was never engraved or etched.

He also sent me his CD. :)

A truly nice gesture, LT.

Thanks again.

Glenn

I can't compete with Don nor Glenn in the talent department but was wondering
if anyone wanted to trade some computer programming hours for knives :-)
Green with envy!

Truly exceptional handcraft work by the 2 of you.
Thanks for sharing.
