Bailey Bradshaw's folding bowie design is very appealing and his 'Tornado' damascus is also. I snapped this one up from his table in Reno recently. It had not been engraved at the time (sorry, no 'before' photos) but Bailey mentioned that if I'd send it to him he'd engrave it for me. I was thrilled with the result and wanted to share it with you all. (Rod, I posted this image in the Bradshaw Gallery as well.)

 Then I got to looking more closely:

He and I got a good laugh about this and to his credit (the man's got a refreshing sense of humor!) Bailey had no problem with my posting this image. In fact, he said he'd done 3 this way! (Wonder who's got the other ones.) Truth is, I can't spell good either and neither can a lot of you guys. Hey - are we not men? Since when does a man need to be able to spell (his own name) correctly? ;)

Here's an 'in process' photo Bailey sent me during the engraving:

Bailey describes this engraving style as 'sculpted American scroll.' Quote: "The scrolls are cut, then the background is removed very deeply. I use several different shaped chisles to sculpt the scrolls and leaves, then use stones to polish the sculpting and remove any marks left by the chisles. Last is to frost the scroll with a fine abrasive blasting and balcken the background."

This is a terrific knife and one that just wants to be in my pocket all the time! Thanks Bailey! And thanks for letting us see that, in spite of your immense talent, you're not that different from the rest of us!

That is just a stunning piece of bladeware - very elegant indeed. Whenever I take a break from the bowie fixation there are two gent's folders I would love to have - a Bradshaw folding bowie and something from Don Hanson III. I have filed your pic away for future reference. ;)

Roger

PS - Too funny about the "typo". :D

Boy, that is one fine looking folder!

Thanks for showing us and giving me a chuckle! :D

Coob ;)

Buddy,

Another fine one you have graced us with. Thank you!

Wow, that knife is so beautiful that I can forgive the misspelling for now. I would forget all about it for a freebie! :D

Hey, William Shakespeare spelled his name at least three different ways. And if was good enough for him, I reckon it's good enough for Mr. Bradshaw, too. ;)

Nice folder. :)

That's probably because whoever actually wrote the works of Shakespeare had trouble remembering how to spell the name. Maybe Bradshaw is just a pseudonym and that's the reason for the incorrectly spelled name...hmmmm.

I am a horrible speller myself, but his own name?? :D LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand, with a stunning blade like that in your hands, I would forget my own name too!!

Thanks for the compliments on my work...my friends. Thanks especially to Buddy for posting this thread.

You know...it's not like I really mispealled my name. I know it's BraDshaw....I just couldn't remember which way the lower case "D" pointed!!! In stead of getting up and checking, I just went with my gut feeling. Must have been something I ate, because I got it dead wrong. Oh well, I still remember Pi for finding area of circles, and use pythagoras theorem for squareness. And truly....what's in a name?

Sincerely,
Dailey Drabshaw

Doah!!!!!

Man, now I'm thinking my collection won't be truly complete until I get a Brabshaw too. :)

Notice however, he didn't, for example, engrave JS, instead of MS. :)

The worst part is I know Bail probably wasn't even drunk...lol Spelling aside - Fantastic piece.

I figure that the misspelled name ones will command a premium on the aftermarket.

I also have a Bailey Bradshaw on order, and he can spell his name any way he wants. All that he has to do to make me happy is to do his work in his usual way....
