Hello, friends on BF, I come from China, I'm sorry that my English is not very good, but I really want to tell you something about a knife, because something about this knife makes Chinese knife friends feel very angry.

First, some promotional images:

This is a new structural knife that REATE is launching recently,But what you don't know is that this knife has been produced by the designer for three generations in China since January this year,It's called the“exoskeleton”. and has been sold in China. Here is the introduction of the first generation products and picture of second and third generation products, which probably means that this design originated from "paratrooper gravity knife" and has applied for a Patent in China,And you will see that this is a cutting knife,

OK, now let's talk about the unpleasant content. The designer compared his products with the MICROTECH OTF series many times when promoting the products, and said that his products were better at the backhand OTF speed. He also said that the MICROTECH products had poor workmanship, high failure rate and vulnerable parts. The fake products had the same quality, only 100 CNY, This shows that genuine products are only worth this price, and the buyer is just for the brand reputation. The self-designed product is better than MICROTECH OTF in many aspects. I think it's shameful to belittle other people's products and raise their own products. Chinese knife fans who have the same idea as me also reply to him in his post, hoping that he will stop this clown like behavior, but he hasn't changed, which makes people feel very disappointed. That's why I posted here today. If you like this structure very much, you can buy it, but please remember the real appearance of the designer. He used shameful behavior to promote his own products and was proud of it. At least in China, because of his character, no one wants to buy his knife.

Here are some screenshots of his dialogue with some knife friends and his promotional works:

:oops::oops::oops: Gold membership from the very begining.... While I don't think this is a SPAM thread I really don't know what to think about it.

For starters you should realise that english is the vernacular language here... and while I don't doubt some people might be familiar with chineese... the vast mayority are not. I am one of those, so I have no idea what all the screenshots of the conversation are talking about.

Could you please clarify your intentions?

Mikel

I...think... the op is suggesting that nobody should buy this particularly strange auto otf design from Reate, because the designer has been bad mouthing Microtech. The Chinese that was posted is screenshots of the designer saying these things and arguing with others. That's what I gathered from the english part of his post, as I don't speak a lick of chinese.

I get the impression that Haooooo is trying to give us a "heads up" about a shady dude who says his knives are better AND less expensive than Microtech, which has annoyed a significant portion of the cutlery community in China, and if this fella shows up here, we should give him a proper Nutnfancy.

I'm sorry to bother you, sir. I didn't translate the content of the screenshot because I think it is evidence, and my English level is not very good, which will make you feel meaningless. The content of the screenshot is the designer's derogation of MT products and the reply to those who question him. In fact, what I want to express is, The designer of this product is not ethical. His way of publicity is shameful, his propaganda method is similar to using a motorcycle to accelerate faster than a car, but he avoids talking about safety

Are we complaining about an American company copying a Chinese knife, really!

Who cares which nation the company is based in, what matters is their level of ethics (which I cannot speak to, as I am not familiar enough with the companies mentioned).

Sorry but I think you fail to see the irony here. Not so much about politics as it the shear number of clones.

I failed to see nothing, including the implicit lumping of all Chinese companies together under the stigma of cloners.

I >think< what is being said is:
- Relate is producing a gravity knife
- that was designed by a guy in China
- who denigrates Microtech in his marketing
- by falsely saying Microtech does shoddy workmanship and that Chinese copies of Microtech knives are cheaper but just as good
- and compares this design to Microtech otf knives despite the fact that it is a gravity knife not an automatic, and the mechanics if each design are very different
- so some members of the Chinese knife community feel that this is false and dishonorable marketing
- so OP wants us to be aware of this when considering purchase of these knives from Relate
