I know the new BM49 series knives have some beautiful wood in their handles but I just got this bali from Walt Erickson and it's got the finest Cocobolo I've EVER seen! Not only is the knife about as nice as they come, as far as fit, finish, construction, etc....but those matching handle slabs really top it off. It's got a great, mirror polished, deep bellied WeeHawk blade with a sharpened false edge and a fantastic hand-rubbed satin finish on the rest of the steel. For you folks that don't want to spring for a BM49 at $600, you can get a custom from Walt for around half of that and I guarantee you wouldn't be disappointed!!! He told me last night he has the handle materials for 24 new knives but won't be starting on them until hunting season is over; probably a month or two. A person could get with him now and specify what they wanted instead of choosing what he has available (I think he has a couple on hand but I don't know what they are) or having to pick one when he's done with this batch. Take a look at these............

Wow, i must say that is probobly the most attractive bali i have seen...ever!!

Could you maybe post his contact information Dawkind?

As always, thanks for the great pictures...i got goose bumps when i saw that first one!

I just got four from him.I think Larry at Blade Art has a few.
I have my order in for 6 when he starts up again;)

Agent-A1, just click on that link up there next to the picture...you'll find a couple of good ones.

I really don't know too much about this knife. It has 4" blade and the butterfly/balisong logo and "Corby" is engraved on the back side of the blade. The blade is made by Harold Corby for Benchmade. Front of the blade says "Bali-Song USA". I have no idea when this one was made but it does look like new when I bought it from Arizona Custom Knives few years ago. It came with both nylon and leather sheath.

Well you are one lucky guy!! I'm envious (which i hear myself saying a lot in this forum...just can't wait for my 49-01!!!)

You can call me stupid. I did have 3 Benchmade/Elishewitz and 2 Benchmade/Pat Crawford ordered with Benchmade few years ago but I ended up cancelling them with Roberta DeAsis and put the $$ into Microtechs.

I saw a double-edged knife by Hubbard a few months ago but missed out on it...:(...That is a beautiful piece and the first one I've seen of Harold's.

That's just textbook Cocobolo. Notice how much grain it's got and also how much contrast there is. Very nice.

*whistles* She's a real beaut'!! And I like the double tang pin. Do you run into any manipulation problems with that extra pin on an exposed blade, and is there any real difference between that and a good kick?

Once again, damn that knife is just sexy!!!

The answer to both questions, for me, is no...........The only knife I've ever had a problem with the double-tang pins is the Tiger. It's not because of the tang pins but the 'double-cut' tang that pinches the sh!t out of my fingers if I choke up too far........

just when I was getting bored with balis ;) this is a nice piece and somethign to hunt for.. excellent Mr. Yao.. thanks for sharing.. hopefully one day I can see the other BM special collabs.. I have only held Elishes and Crawfords...
