I have been looking at these and they seem like a pretty solid deal and having 154CM blades in a Wharncliffe configuration whats the down side? I assume that being called a "Desk Knife" precludes putting this thing on your hip?

What???? You don't have one????

Sheeeesh!!!!

Better get on it! No self respecting knife nut can LIVE without one!!!

:D:D:D

I wanted one but talked myself out of one. I used to have a desk knife, but it moved out :) plus I never used it since I've got a knife (or two) in my pockets. I got a Case/Bose tribal spear instead.

I don't have the Case desk knife, but I have one that Kerry Hampton made. I imagine it's the same pattern. I use it for desk stuff and then some. It's a good apple peeler, cheese slicer, it's great for leather projects etc.

My oldest son has his eye on it but he'll have to settle for one of Case's, for the time being anyways.

I'm sure it would make a fine whittler too. The ATS-34 Case uses is done right.

I've got a Case Desk Knife with Ebony scales, and like it alot. I keep in on my lamp table right beside my chair, and use it often.
Its a tough little knife. Flat ground blade, and a bit thicker than than most smaller slipjoints.

Here is my desk knife. A wharny custom by Robert Hankins

I think this might be a good stand alone idea for a thread.

It fits nicely in the pocket when in it's sheath. I find it very handy and a great looking little knife. I gave one to my tax accountant last year and her husband tried to adopt it, so I had to give hime a single blade wharncliffe trapper so he would leave her desk knife alone.

The one I gave her had "Office Knife" scrimmed, lasered into the bone handle slabs. The wharncliffe trapper was just like the one I won in Jason Baker's give away last year, I think it was.

If you don't have one, you should get one.
