Talk me into (or out of) a Microtech Halo 5

I have been wanting one of these for a while and came into a few hundred unexpected dollars. I have seen the videos on YouTube but found no real reviews beyond "this knife is sooooo cool!" I know it's cool, but is it practical at all?

My questions are this:

How is the blade steel and overall quality?

I see it doesn't have a pocket clip, so how easy is it to carry? Does the plastic belt clip thing hold it well? Does it still stay well concealed?

Would you trust your life to it in a self defense situation? (This of course would be the only real use I had for it)

I have an ultratech and I really like it, so I'm kind of happy with Microtech, but is this just a cool, collectible knife or is there really anyone that carries and uses these?
 
Haha. Sarcasm maybe?

I don't know enough about them, but just based on all the warranty issues I have read on here from MT, I wouldn't send money their direction.

I have no idea what that knife is . . . just wanted to say I love your forum handle.
I assume you have searched the past threads.
Maybe enter in the Goodle search : Microtech Halo 5 and it will lead you back here to threads containing info. I do that some times when the search here doesn't bear fruit.

They are not my favorite MT due to (1) their only single action (2) they are pretty big so I would not think they are very carryable and (3) there seem to be lots of fakes...that being said, they are kinda cool. I have never owned one but played with a few at shows so hopefully you will get a better reply from an actual owner.

Maybe you could ask a mod to move this to the Auto forum http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/688-Automatic-Knife-Switchblades? That is probably better place to get some thoughts.
 
This knife is godlike
Its a gun with 4,6 inch reach
I have one in blue with elmax steel its a top supersteel but now they also have them in different steel
While it sucks to Carry because of its Size you can depend your life on it 200%
its like a little sword/katana with almost no bladeplay and it has the most beautifull tanto on the planet
You can kill a full sized bear with this knife
