  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

So, I am sitting here looking at my BK-7. It is a Camillus era Becker, and was my gateway Becker. It's a little used, shows some slight wear, but over all great shape for being 9 years old. I have not modified this knife at all, other than some spray paint on the sheath (light misting of tan over the factory green).

I am putting serious thought into sharpening the swedge, just not sure if I want to go thru with it. I do not use this as a "survival" knife at all, more of a "combat" orientated blade (been with me twice in Iraq). I can see the benefits of the sharpend swedge, back cuts, more penetration power, but I will use some utility.

Lets hear your opinions.

Do it if you want. As long as you're not going to baton with it, you might as well take advantage of that swedge. I'm going to do the same when I get my 7.

Since your in Wa I would advise against it. The state is pretty irritating when it comes to double edged things.

Do it. Make it exactly the way you want. You will like it more & prob use it more. I know i LOVE the mods i made to mine.

yeah, sharpen it, do a quality job, if you hate it, someone will buy it...

put it in the company of the BK9 "hog hunter", and old Machax warrior

i think at least one person has done the same to a BK10

I'd never heard of the BK-9 Hog Hunter, but I wish it was still made. I'd buy one in a heartbeat. To me, a Bowie isn't really a Bowie without a sharpened swedge. One of my BK-9's is going to get the clip reshaped and sharpened. The other I'll leave alone for batoning purposes.
