Hey all, happy hump day!

So, I'm extremely interested in buying a SJ-75 but I have zero experience with Striders. I've never handled one, seen one in person, nothing. The overall package really appeals to me; compact, light weight, ti frame lock, great blade shape, opening hole, everything.

I'm looking for some insight from those who have either owned this model or even Striders in general because they all seem to follow a very similar build philosophy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just received ,y first strider yesterday----- SnG lego black g10 TI flamed cpm154. The ergos and size just melt in my hand. I can't speak for the SMF or sj-75 but the SnG is awesome!

My experience so far with my SNG has been extremely positive as well, so you won't hear anything but encouragement from me. My only suggestion would be to really think about whether you would rather have the SJ75 or an SNG.

haha trust me, it took me awhile to make that decision. I have knives that are very similar to the spear point Striders but the handle and blade shape of the SJ-75 are like nothing else I own at the moment.

rg02 - Thanks! Thats good to hear! The ergos are what attracted me to Striders in the first place, they DO look like they melt to your hand.

Or wait til May when the new PT's are coming out.

A tad too small for my tastes. I have large hands so I need something with at least a four inch closed length. Thanks though! I didn't even know that model existed :o

The PT would fit your hand comfortably, due to the choil. Handle size/closed size in this case is not indicative.

I have owned at one time or another, most of the Strider folders. The SJ was by far my favorite because it actually cuts well and was very comfortable in hand. While being well built, is is far less over-engineered than the other models making it relatively light as well. The blade is thin and would cut like a straight razor. That is the only Strider that I miss, and I hope to pick up another one some day. Seeing these pics makes me miss it all over again!

I really think they're well designed. Simple yet every bit as solid as my PT or SNGs. They ride very well in the pocket as well and don't take up nearly as much room at the top of your pocket as the SNG.

They're pretty sturdy too. Lock is rock solid.

And I really dig the ergonomics and blade shape, too.

I say its a win.

I've looked at the SJ for awhile. My only beef with it is the same beef I have with a lot of Spyderco knives. The Spyderhole requires too much blade width and hence, pocket space, for the length I'm getting. That's why the only Spydies I EDC are a Centofante Tribute and a Southard. I might be interested in a PT. But like Evan, I generally prefer a knife with a four inch closed length. I'm willing to make an exception for some knives like my Small Sebenzas, however. Based on what DJK said, maybe a PT would work. But it's awfully small . . .

Damn, bwall...you're killing me! haha...now I REALLY want one!

I was hoping I would get SOME kind of resistance here so I don't make a $400 impulse buy...

Thanks all for your input. I need to check at home and see what I can sell, I don't think I'm lucky enough for one to pop up on the exchange.

I think the SJ75 is an beautiful looking folder. As mentioned above, I've started to appreciate a thinner blade profile in the pocket. I'm a huge Spyderco and Spydie hole fan, but they do take up pocket real estate. I find a closed folders height (spine to back of scale) is the most important measurement anymore for me, far more than length and even weight.
