I'm looking for opinions on good quality production cork screws or dare I say, custom cork screws? For the production cork screws, think in the same ballpark as Spyderco, Kershaw or Benchmade as they relate to quality, afford ability and quality control.

I once saw a custom made from scratch [damascus blade etc] that went for $ 3,500 ! There are three ways to remove corks - cork screws, gas [inject CO2 through the cork with a needle] and a two prong type that doesn't damage the cork [two blades slide down along the cork then twist and pull to remove .]

Thanks! I'm actually looking for specific brands or makers. Think of this as one of the knife threads that are always titled "I need a good knife"

I have some quality wine openers now...my Rabbit is my current favorite. I have been traveling lately find myself taking along a small cheap opener. I realized a problem when I emptied my pockets and had the cheapo opener lying next to my Loveless designed City Knife.

I know someone will say something about SAK having cork screws...I know this. :)

I Have several by Monopol. They are made of SS and are very well made. Look at the Bacchus or the Barolo model. Either will last a long time, even with regular use.

For travelling, I replaced my Monopol Pocket with the one from Suck UK.

i have not had good luck with the 2 prong ones which dont damage the cork i'll promise ya lol.

imho the best ones are the std screw type ones.
