looking for info and opinions of the scrap yard dogfather le

and if your familiar with the SOD maybe chime in on it also

Hard to say that it's a scrapyard when they ain't usin the scraps. ;)

Good Busse Family knives. Both of the ones you speak of have Res-C handles and honkin-big flat choils. But good knives.

I like the DFLE a lot! It's similar to a SHBM in size/shape but in SR77 steel with a ResC handle. It's a great knife and I have no reservations recommending it if you like the ResC handles. The shock resistance and toughness of SR77 is A+ but Infi is a better all around steel.

The SoD is very similar to the Camp Tramp and SFNO and a good "generalist" size... big enough for some chopping, small enough to have on your hip.

I have the DFLE and it is a big knife in a small package.
Great for throwing in a backpack....

The Resiprene handle is comfortable and every part of the knife is covered under the same warranty as the Busse and Swamp knives:thumbup:

Bravado? Where are ya? I need some help cornering these strays!! :p

Both Scrap Yard and Swamp Rat is using 154CM for some of their small new knives. The Yard has released the MudPuppy, BirdDog & Scrap Muk. The Swamp has released the Hairy Carry.

I dont believe my dogfather is an LE, but i love it... and I use it.
It has an awesome sheath by Leatherman.
It is strong, well balanced for use, takes and holds a good edge, and has only bitten me once.
:)

The DFLE was produced as a Tan on Tan combat version at the last Knob Creek....

This is the "soldiers" SHBM for "today" as it is affordable....only desk jockey officers have the money for an after market SHBM....and even then they are never hardly used....the DFLE is nice if you want a satin finish knife...again it is the best handling "affordable knife" Bussekin produce....but even then it is commanding a lot on the secondary market...

The steel issue is a red herring ....if you use this knife hard all day it is great and you can top up the edge of an evening quickly and easily....I would do the same with an Infi blade....Infi only scores points if you are "bereft of knife skills" and have to use a knife until it's bluntness renders it ineffective because you cannot sharpen and maintain a blade....then Infi will last longer...

The same is true of a RMD in SR101....it is an affordable brilliant knife...and used all day works as well as Infi....you can also easily strop the edge at night and don't need Infi to have the best in "professional" user knives. These two knives handle better than any Infi options I can afford.....

You can get both for the price of a NMSFNO LE and both are a better combination of "user" knives than anything short of a "car price investment" in a Infi SHBM and a Tanker A or Euro 4 .

who mods these?
i am wanting to have a dfle "tweaked" so i can choke up on the grip a bit, seems the shape imo doesn't allow for this so well

I've been buying Busse for about 18 months and was thinking I should really try a Scrap Yard knife just to compare the two.

I recently picked up a Tali-Whacker and the handle feels great so that's spurring me on to try more blades that have this handle material.

Where am I???

Is this the Scrap Yard forum???

 ... ...

Lets round'em up!!!! :D :D

.

Awright! Since Bravado is MIA you can help close up the back 40 while I work the front. We'll get em corralled and back where they belong! Didja bring your cattle prod? ;)

how do you like that Tali-whacker? That blade is growing on me, i've seen a couple at reasonable prices and looks pretty wicked...

Are scrapyard and swamprat knives offered in the same way as Busse. (only offering one knife model at a time?)

I'm not familiar with Swamp Rat, mostly because they haven't had a new blade out in a long time.

But yes, Scrap Yard offers one model for a few weeks and everyone gets their orders in while it is up. After the knife comes down off the site, production begins and shipping starts.

There ya are! Better late than never! :p

Load em up, Move em out!

RAWHIDE!
