I've used them in a couple sheaths to lock the knife in. That's about it.

I use the talon holes to lock my knives in their sheaths because I have smart, persistent toddlers, and I don't want to lock all my Busses in my safe. If it has no talon hole...it's doomed to be safe queen for the next few years for me. :(

Sometimes I also use them to tie my knives to things like my backpack or fanny pack when I'm traveling. Busses are too portable and valuable for me to feel comfortable otherwise.

I also use them to stop against the welt of my sheaths to help prevent over-penetration. :D

No. I don't use them.

I don't "mind" them on ASH, SJTAC or similar and larger sized knives.

But, I can't stand them on the smaller stuff like AD, Meaner, etc. - Sorry.

.

I put D-guards on most of my users. If Jerry came out with a model without a talon hole I probably wouldn't buy it. Being able to tie D-guards is a MAJOR advantage

I certainly don't. They look fun and all, but I don't see much use to them except as a "design" feature that makes it look more Busse. On the big knives like the FFBM I don't mind them at all, but on the small ones like the GW I do think they make the knife worse instead of better. But then, I'm one of the old-fashioned no guards, no choils, no extra stuff on knives kind of guys.

I use mine as a roach-clip.

I just the choil. talon hole is to small :p

in reality, I've put the hole through feature on a few of the sheaths I've had just to have the option there. I personally love gaurds on daily use knives, but hate choils. I've used knives that have no gaurds, and have cut myself repeatedly from having greased up hands and no gaurd to keep them from slipping forward. and I've used a whole lot of knives with choils, and every one of them would have been made better by not having it (for me).

so, why not do something with your gaurd? the only benefit of not having the hole there would be that the gaurd might be able to be a bit thinner, wich in certain cases is a good, but to me it's not critical.

For me just a handy hole to use to lock the knife into the sheath.

But that is not what it is for, just something it can be used for.

You know, sort of like using your Wife to get you a sandwich and a Beer, Handy but not the basic purpose.
