Have any of you replaced the G-10 scales on your talon with micarta, wood, bone, etc? If so, please post your pictures if possible. I would love to see them.

I am expecting my talon this week, and am considering having the scales relaced with green linen micarta, just for that custom touch.

I am thinking of replacing the scales as well. I have had the Talon for 3 months now and I am very happy with it. I even got used to the teklock device.

I am wondering whether I could order some extra handle screws for my custom handles directly from Camillus???

David,
Glad you are happy with your TALON! Have you had a problem with your existing handle screws? If not, why not use them with you new scales? If you need some screws, we will try to help, but I'm wondering why you would need new screws?

Thanks again for being a customer!

Will, I finally got my Talon as well (after all my whining about the delays back earlier in the year; remember me?

). I just want to say, "That is one damn FINE knife!" Excellent work on the handle scales, and the way they match up to the tang (at least on mine they do). As good as I've seen in any of my (limited

) custom pieces.

NICE WORK!

I just received my Talon. What an awesome knife! The scales are of very high quality. Much nicer than the plain slabs of G10 I am used to on my folders. I may still choose to have them replicated in micarta or wood, but it will be purely for cosmetic reasons. My brother-in-law is a part time knifemaker and has offered to make the scales for me. He is also planning to relace the scales on his talon with cocobolo. If nothing else it will be a great way to showcase his skills. I will be sure to post pics when complete.

This is both my first fixed-blade, and my first Camillus product. I am very pleased.

Regards,
Joe

Will,

so far I have a little problem with one screw. When I took the scales off (to clean the tang underneath) I could not unscrew it and used a little more force to do it. The screw still works but I am not sure for how long it will. And if something goes wrong I would like to have some extra pieces.

Anyway, if you could tell me where to get such screws (or at least how you call them in English and what size they are) I would order them somewhere else. I would order also bigger sizes for my other projects.

Thank you for your response.
