Subject line says it all. I can feel the urge coming on and the $$$ aren't there right now for a Mayo TNT.

Depends on if you can legally and easily carry a fixed blade. If you can, go with the mini-talon.

That is a very tough choice. I absolutely love both of them.

The Talonite EDC is extra nifty. I can't say a bad thing about it. The design and manufacturing are both superb. If you dig small folders, I’d do the EDC. This is a heck of a knife at the price. Camillus hit the nail on the head with this one.

The Mini-Talon is small. VERY small. Be prepared to take it out of the box, and feel like you just bought a kids toy. It's tiny, but cuts like crazy. The sheath is superb, and works great with the Mini-TekLok. The handle has the best looking G-10 scales I've ever seen. The knife is extraordinarily comfortable for its size. It doesn’t have the cutting power of the EDC, but it’s exceptional for its size.

Overall, my Mini-Talon gets more use from me. It's just a terrifically fun little toy, and I dig fixed blades. And if you don’t like it, it’s the ultimate paring knife for the kitchen.

Anyone knows where can I get a Talonite EDC in Canada? I wouldn't want to ship something more than 20US because I got to pay the tax here from some stupid broker who overcharges.

Wish I could comment authoratively on this subject, but I haven't got the talonite EDC yet.

I love the slicing ability of my Camillus Talon (full sized, not mini) and the niftyness of my EDC. I don't use my Talon as much because it is hard to carry a fixed blade around the city without raising eyebrows and besides, the sheath sucks. I'm told the sheath problem is only with the older stuff and they have the problem licked, so there should be no problem with the newer stuff.

But in the city, the EDC shines because it is small and light enough to sit comfortably in almost all my clothing. It opens and closes smoothly and has sufficient bias to keep it closed until needed. (The ball detent works fine in mine). Even in 420HC, the blade cuts well and keeps a decent edge. Nothing as good or lasting as the edge I get in VG-10, but acceptable that I don't have to sharpen it after opening some boxes.

So I'm guessing that Talonite in the EDC frame would be a winner.

One day when the $$$ are sufficient, I'll be able to comment from experience.

I own the talonite Talon, the mini-Talon, and the talonite EDC...and Buzzbait hit is exactly right.

The mini-talon is a great little knife, but it is *small*...like really really small. I owned the Talon first, so when I pictured the mini I think I was expecting to open the box and find a scaled down version of the talon. It's smaller than that, and smaller than you think it's going to be. That said, it's a great little slicer. Someone described it as a "neck scalpel" and I think that's very accurate.

The EDC is the perfect "first talonite" option. A very elegant knife with awesome cutting ability.

The Talon was actually my first talonite blade, and it's a perfect fixed blade. I also have the "loose sheath" problem so I don't carry it much, but it's made to skin!

I'd recommend the EDC, you won't be disappointed.

and I have to say that I would choose the EDC. I really like the mini talon. It makes a great little neck knife, but as mentioned above it is small. The EDC is a great folder and the talonite just makes it that much better.
