Just wanted to know if anyone has one of this yet and what are your first impressions.

I think this may have already been done but here goes.

I got one the first week when they came out. I had gotten one of the 154cm versions and been pretty pleased with it. When I got the talonite version is was really impressed. It is a well made knife with good fit and finish and the grinds on the talonite are quite good but not "perfect". I guess the way I look at it is a $65 knife with a $100 blade. The talonite is what drives the price on this puppy and IMHO it is well worth the cash!
This is my first talonite knife so I was a little skeptical about it's performance and durability. At first I really babied it but have used it progressively harder in the weeks I have had it. I now use it for everything I would use a steel folder for and the lockup is excellent with NO play and it is very smooth. I have to admit that I pressured the lock out a gnat's hair to lighten the pressure on the detent. It now locks up just as well but is smoother to open/close. I am not recommending this! You are risking alot to try this as I know Will AND Darrel would scold me for doing this! (Dexter already did!):D
The blade takes a shaving edge easily with the spydie white rods and holds it well. HOWEVER, as everyone else has said before, the edge holds incredibly well after it looses that scary sharp start and cuts like MAD!! The Gold finish on the pocket clip does not hold up and I am about to remove mine and polish it off. That is fine with me though because I got this knife as a user for the mission field in Nicaragua!
I cannot say strongly enough how exceptional I feel that this knife is for Every Day Carry! The talonite has made a great knife into one that is truly exceptional. Well done Will AND Darrel!

This knife truly is an Every Day Carry!!
:D :D :D :D

Jason,
Thanks for your input and review. I probably should have tried the KR&T or did a search first anyway. Even though I been a basic member for awhile. I still purvey more than I post. Thanks for giving me your thoughts. :)

Best of luck on you mission trip. If all goes according to plan I want to go on a one week trip next year to Haiti to help build an orphange.

Thanks for the well wishes!! I hope you get to go to Haiti! That is the poorest country in our hemishpere . . . I think the average income is about $4 a year lower than Nicaragua which is second on that auspicious list.:( (About $180 per year household income!)
IMHO everyone ought to spend some time in a third world country for perspective!!:D ;) :D

Hope you get to take a talonite EDC with you when you go! I am taking mine to Nicaragua in two weeks!

Jason,

I have not thought about an knife for the trip. Know I will need one though. The EDC in Talonite would probably be a good choice. Would hate to lose it to some customs agent.

Keep me posted on your trip feel free to email me anytime. ;)

Thanks, Gary

I just received my Talonite EDC on Friday (thanks 1SKS) and I carried it for two days at an indoor waterpark in Sandusky Ohio. This little gem had no rust anywhere and was a pleasure to carry. The light weight and great lockup make this a great knife. There is NO blade play and the action is very smooth. The lockup is solid and it requires a bit of force to unlock the blade (just the way I like it). I would recommend this knife to anyone who is working in a wet environment. It is easy to maintain your grip even when wet. The cutouts in the handle are in jut the right place for a secure grip. I am glad I sold my 154CM EDC for this Talonite version. This guy now joins the MiniTalon for carry every day.
Thanks Camillus

Thanks for your input Dalerich.

I may have to get one ordered here shortly. :)

I was over at Muzzleups the other day, and he let me handle his Talonite EDC. I was quite impressed. Too bad to hear that the gold finish on the clip and screws isn't going to hold up. They look fantastic right now. But anything looks kind of worn and dowdy pretty quickly if the finish starts falling off, as has been suggested about knives of another brand.

I think I see me getting the mini-Talon before the EDC. I'd love to have a Talonite blade, but they sure cost a premium.

I got mine at a gun, and knife show here in Reno from OSS who only had one. I carried it for one day, and lost it to my WIFE. She got ahold of it, and it fit her hand so well that she said MINE. She is a knife knut also, and said she had to have her own talonite folder(I have a Tom Mayo TNT).

Anyway we went on a weeks long camping trip, and she used it every day cutting various things, plastic, cardboard, nylon rope, and used as a paring knife cutting food. She likes the heck out of it.After using it al week did not have to resharpen the blade, and that really impressed the wife. She hates a dull knife, and I am the official sharpner of the family so sometime keeps me busy, but usually do that while watching tv, but not with talonite. Like the Energizer bunny, keep going, and going, and going....... I also have the Talon, and mini-Talon fixed blades by Camillus, and they are all great....

She is really happy with it, and it fit her hand better than mine anyway. Like some have said, they need to make a little larger one for us men. I think it fits a womens hand much better.

Good work Camillus, and Will!!!

Larry

I have 2 of these neat little babies. LOVE that talonite...it buffs up to a scary razors edge and just keeps on cutting. I also have the Talon and Mini-Talon so I am very impressed with what Camillus has done in these knives. I carry the Talon, Mini-Talon, the EDC talonite AND a Chris Reeve Classic MM Sebenza all for my daily carry. EDC in back pocket, Mini-Talon around my neck, Talon on left side of belt, Sebenza in right front pocket, and CRK Shadow III on right side of belt next to the Victorinox RS multi-tool.
I feel well covered for just about anything.:D :D

Got one from 1SKS from a preorder. So far, it's been awesome. I just moved and it was the knife I used to put together and chop back down cardboard boxes. I can't comment on how it is to resharpen 'cuz it just hasn't needed it yet despite all the corrugated it's gone through. It looks great, has really smooth action, and just keeps cutting and cutting and cutting...

Bugs, Larry, and Ron,

Thanks for responding with your experience on this knife. I got the urge to buy and have been trying to decide. If I do this will be the most I have paid for a production folder. So I appreciate your thoughts.

Ron, I would say you could handle about any situation with the great edged equipment you have there.

Take care, Gary

P.S. CJ sorry I forgot ya. Thanks for your input too.

Gary;
I am just a dyed in the wool knife knut so I always have anywhere from 5 to 7 knives on me at any given time.
A man as old as I am has to get his pleasure from something he likes!
