I was searching around Rob Simonich's site because I wanted to buy some Talonite to try out. The pricing / ordering infor for blanks is gone and not up on the new talonite.com site yet. But I digress...

He mentions edge qualities and notes that it doesn't take a hair popping type edge - but that that it holds a styrofoam cup cutting edge very well. Have others also had this experience with Talonite? Frankly, if it won't take an 'ooh - ahhh' edge, .... well...

Rob!

Talonite is designed for long use in certain situations.
It will take a wicked edge.
Then it get to teh point it feel like its not as sharp. Then it keeps cutting certain materials. The thing to remember is there is a blade material or materials that works better for every situation.
Blade material depends on the the purpose intended.

I think the main difference is that fact that is the softness factor....you can not put a THIN fine edge on talonite and have it not roll or deflect (bend)...you have to leave it a bit thicker....that is the simplist answer I can give. It does take a nice edge....but not like a Rc 60 knifeblade.
