I need help!!!i want to hollow grind a talonite folder .(3 1/8")if i grind it at .015 to .020 will it have enough meat behind the edge to support say a 21 degree edge?or should i use some thing else?

Kit Carson has hollow ground two Talonite (r) folders for me, and did a wonderful job. If Kit doesn't see this and answer you, perhaps you should e-mail him. Walt

you can, but what rob said was that he flat grinds his blades....big difference in the thickness right behind the edge...one reason i have always like the hollow grind on smaller knives, hunting type blades in particular, is because you can sharpen them many many times, even up to almost half the width of the blade gone, and still have the same amount of material to sharpen at the edge, whereas when you do that with a flat ground knife, by the time you get even .187 up from the edge you are dealing with a LOT thicker knife...my personal preference. I am sure rob has his reasons for flat grinding them...i do flat grind camp knives, machetes, and kitchen knives....
