I'd been wanting one of these ever since I saw the first one. (You know that feeling? Like love at first sight.) When Yangdu's post went up on 7/27 I immediately sent an email hoping that I would be lucky enough to grab one and...SUCCESS!

The mailman just dropped it off a few minutes ago and I couldn't wait to free it from the cardboard and newspaper bonds.

Now it's free and it is PERFECT. The scabbard is a bit loose (as advertised) but nothing more than a slight rattle. Retention is still very secure.

The blade looks great with the black finish and the polished edge. The khukuri is very light and nimble feeling while still having that substantial HI spine which should handle some tougher chores.

The Neem Wood handle smells great, is wonderfully contoured, and even though it's a bit thinner than the handle on my M43s is is still very comfortable in the hand.

I cannot wait to get out and work with this blade.

I'll try and get some pictures of this beauty today if the weather holds out.

Meanwhile, I'll be doing the happy dance. :D

Thanks,

B

Yes, pics please! I've eyed these forge-scale tamangs lately, and cursed having already splurged on other bladely wares!

A couple of quick shots before the rain starts to fall...

With this stuff in my pockets and on my belt how can I fail? :D

Great looking blade. I felt the temptation on that one too!

Great photo's.

Hope you can add how it went in the field to your earlier comments.

Will do. I'll try and get some shots with one of my M43s too.

This blade is so light in the hand that I keep thinking it's not going to be a fantastic chopper but I'll have a better idea come tomorrow. :)

I got out with the Tamang Khukuri this weekend and spent a little time with it working on some green and seasoned wood.

It came nice and sharp and handled cutting tasks with ease. I didn't try felling any trees but branches of all sizes were easily reduced.

I got a bit of a hot spot from the ridge on the handle but that's easily fixed and may simply require more use to toughen up that part of my hand.

Also, notice how the scabbard on this one is not black but a dark blue.

I'm really looking forward to future use of this magnificent blade.
