well, ernesto looks like he'll be stopping by on wednesday night. I live in st. pete, and work in tampa. so....This'll be sure to disrupt my week. We may want to keep each other apprised of what's happening, and offer a hand to one another and our neighbors. Prepare in advance, please!!

I live near Daytona & am going to run my generator for 1/2 an hour tomorrow to make sure the battery is 100 percent. Need 5 more gallons of gas & I'll be set for at least 35 hours of maximum output. Half load should stretch it out to 40 + hours.

I have my panels on a yard cart & will fully charge both drill batteries. Please remember if you have the type using wingnuts , set your drill torque to # 3 so you won't warp the panels.

I'll have water [on well] & will make coffee & soup for neighbors. Have a lot of meals in freezer I prepared earlier. Have 2 rechargable lights & will fill my Yukon tomorrow.
If it comes our way I'll sit in my garage & clean my guns.

Good luck if your'e in the path.

We've had a bit of rain up here lately after a pretty dry summer. It rained all day today, but you'd never know it if you didn't look outside. It's no hurricane, that's for sure.

Be prepared, and good luck!

Sarasota here! And getting ready for the big storm. I dunno... We always seem to dodge the bullet when it comes to hurricanes. I kinda doubt we'll get hit - at least not directly. We'll get lots of rain for certain, but that will probably be it (I sincerely hope!!! )

Glad he's visitin you and not me Dijos! :D
Maybe it won't be a bad one.
Fort up and God Bless!!

The latest track puts the hurricane's path on the East coast of Florida, or out in the ocean. Seems like Tampa is off the list.

I'm afraid that one of the long-term effects of Hurricane Katrina is round-the-clock overhyped coverage every time it rains in the Atlantic. 40-50 mph winds? In New Mexico that's called "Spring".

Thanks for the link - very informative. The reason I posted was the abundant Ernesto coverage on television. So I checked the current wind speed of "Ernesto" and it was less than 50 mph. Our Spring winds do reach 60-75 mph, but only occationally.

Ernesto is now coming my way. Sure hope he stays out to sea because State Farm sent me a letter Friday stating my deductible is over 5 grand. Been sending them money over 10 years & only 1 small claim & they'll recover it from the uninsured motorist that hit me.

I pay those datrastard effers over $ 160 a month. Piracy by state mandate ?

I have survived some biggies way back before TV & categories were around. During WW II all weather forecasts were banned from the radio & newspaper along our East coast because they didn't want the u-boat wolfpack lurking around our ports & coastline to have current weather information.

I have seen 2 storey beach homes bobbing all over at the beaches in Eastern N.C. in 1942 & 1943.

Will pass the animation to friends in this area.

We've survived three of them - including one where we were evacuated by our local fire department at 6:00am. During that one, we had friends from England visiting who thought it was all very funny. I was so ticked off at them I felt like handcuffing them to my garage door.

If it does hit, stay safe and stay smart. We'll be thinking of you.

Cold front coming in from Georgia and meeting the absolute mug that you could slice with a knife here resulting in thunderstorms, Ernesto skirting our coast on Thursday resulting in flooding and high winds, middle of the state will be no Hugo but bad weather expected. Be safe everyone!
