Tan micarta

Is it just me, or does the tan canvas micarta have a bigger "weave" then the other types of canvas micarta? Sure looks/feels that way to me.

I find that canvas varies in texture as well as color. I think some canvas has a smaller diameter twine than others. Short answer is yes, I have noticed this. Even had a customer think that some black canvas was G-10 because the the weave was so fine.
 
Seems that way to me too.
I'm OK with it though. Shows off the unique textile quality of the material which can be pretty cool.

From my experience the tan varies A LOT in color from piece to piece, even from the same sources. You get a nice yellowish cast like on your knife in one piece and the next is light brown. I've thrown away a lot of tan scales because they came off a really dingy, anemic sand color :barf:
