I have been contemplating getting myself either a bk7 or 9 for my next purchase. I am leaning towards the bk9 but after that I am stuck. I do not have a clue whether to get the black handled knife or the tan handled ones.

Negative for coating is it will scratch .
A negative for the non coated is the worry of having to baby the knife due to worries of.

Anything else anyone can add? I have looked at http://www.888knivesrus.com/
and http://www.eknifeworks.com/

I'm pretty sure they are both coated, one line with a black coating and one line with a tan coating. I wouldn't worry too much about the durability of the coating. The coating on my black BK7 has held up very well through lots of nasty stuff.

yes, they are both coated, though the pictures Ive seen make it look like bare metal.

I just got my BK101 desert tan crewman & I love the handle coloring, but the blade is a beige colored coating.

I like the black the best, myself...It looks more "business-like", although the Desert Tan DOES look cool.:).

You could always paint it black :D

Man, this is going downhill fast!:p
