tang marking

Did Buck ever mark the tang with the the name "Buck" in script or some sort of 'Old English'? Specifically I'm referring to the 501/503 series of folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the 500 series of knives did have "Buck" in a lettering style as you described. My 501 that was purchased new in 1982 does have the "Old English" style lettering while my 507 date coded 1994 has the plain lettering.

All of the 500 series had script stamps from the inception (the 501 in 1973) until the GRADUAL change over to block lettering in the late 1980's. This includes the Classic knives too. Script was also used on the 201, 203, 205 and 107 during the same approximate time period.
