Not sure if im in the right section(apologies if not),but looking for some answers to a few questions about tang sizes and handle lengths on my kabar models 1211 vs 1217.
On my d2 kabar the tang is wider than the old 1217,is this true for all of this style of knife with the kraton handle,eg 1211 and next gen stainless models?
I have also noticed that the handle is somewhat shorter on my 1211 compared to the 1217,why?Surely the same blade blank is used or am I missing something?
Also why is the leather not flared on the end like the kraton one,or my older model 1217 anymore?All the new ones seem to be lacking the feature which makes it look cheap and feels uncomfortable.
Here is a pic of my trusty old 1217,bought new in 1992 iirc.Notice the choil in front of the guard,easy mod for those wishing blade was centered,plus makes it good to choke up onto blade.
