Been out for some time now, sooooooo how are you guys finding the Tank Buster to stack up against your other comparable Busses?

I'm EAGERLY awaiting the shipping/billing notice for my tank buster (anyone else still waiting?) and interested in hearing how you guys think it does against the ASH specifically (skinny or CG)? Seems like this would be the closest competitor (maybe the sjtac or hell razor?). Any of you guys finding you grab the TB over others?

Really isnt too much usage talk out there on the Tank Buster yet...

EDIT: pics are highly encouraged :)

The wait has been killer - seems like an excellent all-around blade!! I actually bought a sus scrofa on the bay to hold me over, but had it shipped to our upstate place thinking itd make it in time before I had to get back to the city - didnt make it - now more waiting to pick that puppy up - argh!!!! :grumpy: :D

Hope everyone had a happy and safe Thanksgiving!!

If you look at pics of the tank buster and sjtac side by side, they are VERY similar, except for the scallops. I'd like to hear some impressions comparing those two. Aesthetically, I prefer the SJTAC, but the tank buster was available in bama clay...

Great topic - but without pics it will be worthless..............:D

I should get my TBs any day now. They are going through custom procedures as we speak... I can't wait to get them. And I'm very interested in users opinion on this model.

haven't handled one yet, but i think it would be somewhere between the SFNO and HR in handling, what with the .25" thickness and saber grind.

I have a SJTAC and TB both in satin/black paper and both .22" thick and to be honest, I agree. The SJTAC has a much more useful blade shape. The TB does have some more weight to it due to the saber grind but over all I like the way the SJTAC handles:thumbup: better.

Satin Jack may be my favorite Busse. Couldn't pull the trigger on the Tank Buster.

I didn't go for the TB either though the choices were certainly abundant. I have a few SJ's and they are some of my favorite knives especially the Jackhammer

I think the tankbuster is closest in size/shape to the hell razor...any one own all three for comparison?

The TAC handle with mags is not as comfortable to me as the special forces handle with mags but it's additional blade depth makes it superior to the Satin Jack TAC IMO. I have actually sold all of my Satin Jacks and Badger Attacks with TAC handles because I don't care for it. I only pulled the trigger on it because it could be had sans choil. I will never sell it. I love it.

Is the blade really that much deeper? I seem to recall a picture of them side by side and they looked like almost the same blade, with the exception of the scallops.

I've got a satin/BP because sans choil was an option as well as with swedge and skull crusher. I really like this blade. Don't have a SJTAC; probably won't after acquiring a TB. The TB is a way stouter knife than the SHSJ, which may be good or bad. It was there so I bought it.

it's big, ugly, and feels so-so in the hand.

However, it's got all the features you'd want in a midsized beater, good blade length, no choil, reletively thick but not overboard, enough handle to choke back (to get a nmsfno balance/power) but not so much that it feels like it's all handle.

I own one and have no intent of ever selling it, but it in no way comes close to my custom sar5.

I love it!! But it is my first Busse.
As you can see I like similar knives.

Straighter spines, broader blades and more distal belly are all WAY more appealing to me. Having a choilless option make it a different knife altogether. Need to use it and get some pics up

I'd love to see a SFNO, NMSFNO, SJTAC, ASH-1 and TB put head to head in a chop off/ trial. Would be great fun being the one to spend a day or two doing that.

I get my TBs yesterday, and I had no chance to use it yet except of sharpening some penclis :)
I LOVE the TBs. Especially my double cut one because it's a bit thinner than the coated one and a bit lighter. But both are great. I have a choilless swedgeless version with round butt and for me these knives are perfect all-arounders. Untill I got the TBs my favorite knife from Busse Combat was the Batac, now TBs are my favorities. TB is a bit longer than the Batac and a bit heavier - it surely makes it a better small chopper. When in the woods chopping is the fastest way to get wood for a small fire. Untill now I used my my batac to chop branches and it did well - for such a small knife. TB will surely be better at this and it's still short enough and light enough to be carried the whole day long on the belt while hiking. I'm happy I chose round butt version. Round butt lets you hold the handle by the very end and it also improves chopping. I also like the pointier than in Batac tip on the TB.
Great knives. :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I used my TB to make a hamburger and cut some cardboard today.
For the hamburger it worked great, slicing the bun and spreading the mayonnaise.
On the cardboard, the edge seemed a little thick. the knife is still a little dull from my bashing it on a few 2x4's that are laying around the house. I'll probably re-profile the edge to something a little more EDC friendly.

I thik it is a pretty cool loking knife, but I think I prefer my Batac and decided to pass on this guy.
