Ok, dumb question #2000

I ordered my first busse yesterday. Was given the choice and opted for a Swedge.

So now I am like, eh... what did I order. Meaning, I searched and could not find what exactly the point of a swedge is for? is it just for easier penetration, less friction in stabbing motion?

By the way, obviously I am very excited about the the knife., only problem I have now is I want to order another in double cut.

A swedge is scientifically engineered for de animating water melons! It serves no other earthly purpose, except it looks cool.

and looks, it just looks a lot better with the heavy swedge in my book but there are some that don't want it, I am going to order tomorrow and yes I want the heavy swedge and choil too!

I think a swedge is mostly for looks. I like what it does for the lines of a knife.

This is an example of a swedge:

looking at it, I'm questioning wether it actually makes the wedge from tip to full spine thickness slimmer or not, and I don't think it does. Technically it's like trying to insert a triangle vs. that same triangle with 2 of it's corners knocked off. the second one would go in easier because the distance from side to side has been reduced, but i'm not sure how significant that is with the tank busters smallish swedge.

it also seems like the baton would be able to apply more force to a flat surface then a pointed one if your batoning with it... but again, not sure if thats significant enough to notice.

I too am not sure which is the better choice... for an edc I'd say with, but for a dedicated prybar/splitter probably without....

Dont worry I figured out what it is for.

Its so I can get another one with out the swedge and tell my wife that they are two completely different knives and therefore a justified expense:cool:
