I am debating over which knife would be better for general outdoor utility and wanted to ask those who are more versed in Busse cutlery what their opinions are of these two knives. Thanks in advance.

if you are talking about woods use I would say the TB is better suited, however the BJ would do a fine job

Id rather get a BJ than TB (tuberculosis) anyday...oh wait...if we are talking about Busse knives...then id rather have a TB :)

TB is good to go.:thumbup:

I just don't get the Boss Jack and why so many guys drool over that model. Looks like one of my bread knives. (Please don't flame me, it's only my opinion)

What is the intended use.

The Boss Jack is thinner, lighter, and less blade height from edge to spine. The edges on the new Boss Jack's should really be great. The LE will be a much better slicer. Thinner, with a great edge. The Combat Grade will still have a great edge, but is .22 Tough enough for anything you will ever need.

The Tankbuster is a real beast. It will have more mass for chopping. .25 so stouter. Taller blade, more belly. Without choil and round but is where it is at for me! The edge is going to be thick. The grind is thick out to the point. Very robust! I would recommend convexing or re profiling the edge.

I would love to have both, but don't have either.

I have a tb a doublecut one - so a bit thinner (0.22") than a standard cg tb (0.25"). I used to have boss jack proto.
All I can say they are much diferent knives. Tank buster is heavier and will do better in my opinion as an all-arounder, because it's capable of light and even medium chopping.
So if I was looking for an all-around blade with woods hiking and fire preparing (and connected to this - chopping branches) in mind, I would go with a tank buster.
I used to have two tbs one doublecut and one combat grade. Like I said - doublecut and satin finished tbs are thinner and they have MUCH better edge than combat grade ones for cuting, slicing. And that would be my choice.
For me boss jack (which I really like and have one LE on order) is a lighter version of tank buster. Excellent for times when you need a full size strong knife in lighter package.

Tank Buster for the woods, BOSS Jack for in town/edc. For all the reasons mentioned above.
