Tanker Gray vs Urban Gray

Tanker gray - nice natural gray. Fairly dark. Sorta like an ACU gray. It would blend in in a woods setting.

Urban gray - think 60's era wood shop machinery. That light ick-gray that everything was in shop class. Very industrial looking. Shows the least wear b/c it's color value is close to raw steel. That's the nicest thing I can say about it. I despise the color.

unless there's a new shade of urban gray, the tanker gray is more of a dark, matte finish and the urban has a glossy light finish.

This hits the nail on the head perfectly. Tanker Grey  Urban Grey :barf: There have been threads where Urban Grey is easily the most despised color. There are fans of it because it looks close to traditional bare steel. Ironically my favorite Busse is a CG FBM that is Urban Grey and Tan Micarta. The older urban grey was darker than the current color and the tan micarta looks similar to a wood handle. Which is why I got it and why some like it.

I actually like the concrete-ish look of urban gray but now that I've seen both I'm loving Tanker gray!

It does somehow look lighter than the 2 pix shown in person. Honestly, it's the color of a Delta table saw.

+1 on all that.

But then again I dislike sage almost as much as urban, and most love the sage. I'm not much on coatings, but do like OD, the old Tan, and the new TG.

Just my two cents but Tanker Gray is one of my new favorite finishes!!

Ok so Tanker clearly looks great with black canvas and plain black handles, but how do you think it'll look with Black and Blue G-10?

Urban gray looked pretty cool on the interim black&tan. That said, I think I like tanker gray a bit more myself.

I've often had trouble telling Desert Sage and Urban Gray apart. Urban Gray looks kind of sparkly in a bright clear picture.

Can anyone post pics that show the difference between these two?

Here's a pic on the progression between the old (new :o) Urban Gray...Which is very light (the CGBATAC, bottom), the new (old :o) Urban Gray... Which is much darker (the CGFBM, top), and the Tanker Gray... Which is a few shades darker than that (the CGHG55, middle).

I had a Game Warden that was urban grey that looked like this badger attack, my CG FBM looks a lot better, it's darker like the one in your picture. I thought the BM was before the GW?
